Beautiful park with monuments, shrines, performers, food stands & Starbucks before we got to the museums. It’s really 5 museums filled with art, history, screens, samurai swords, helmets & armor.... everything Japanese. Free WiFi, extensive gift shop, restaurant & it was easy to navigate in English.

Permanent collections are average. Some areas are interesting while others not at all. Although it was a rainy day, the permanent collections were not crowded.
However, temporary exhibitions were insanely crowded and also not really interesting.

This is not just a great museum for its contents, which it is, but also that it is not crowded, nor overwhelming. There are so many good spots to sit down and recuperate before making another foray into the museum to explore something else

It was an experience of walking thorough the creative history of Japan. Giving you a picture of the historic traditions of Japan.

Easy access via Metro. Arrive before 10AM or after 12PM due to all of the tour buses. Line to purchase entry ticket was extremely long however, I was surprised how fast it moved. Purchased tickets via kiosk (there is an English option). Museum is spread across several buildings with different displays. I only had a few hours to visit. I opted for the Honkan Japanese Gallery which displayed beautiful works of Japanese art and artifacts on two floors. Visited the gift shop. Has a very, very small selection of books in English.
