“Hanami Time”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

I visited Ueno park in late march. Right in the middle of Hanami. Stunning really :) Al you need is good weather and you can easy spend 1 - 2 days here. Lots of museums if the weather is bad. Like National, nature and science Museums. Bring a blanket and a basket of beer, sake and some snacks and you are all set :)

“Ragged-around-the-edges public space”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

It's looking a bit tired - could do with a little maintenance. There are some cafes, however, if you need a little refreshment.

“good”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

A sprawling area that houses the Ueno Park has Ueno Zoo, Ueno Lake and several museums; National Museum of Western Art, National Museum of Science and Nature and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum; all of which are within walking distance and makes it a pleasant day out.
The National Museum of Sciecne and Nature is very educational for young children, with many exhibits and basic translation in English. Entrance for children is free.

“great place for walking”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

We walked though this park each night for a week, and enjoyed it the more we got to know it. We watched snippets of a baseball game, saw school girls dancing, admired the waterlilies and temples. There were lots of different walkways to explore. It's not so much designed for tourists as it is for those who live and go to school there.

“Just a way to relax”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Traveling and visiting sites, and there is a lot to see in Tokyo and around, it can be tiredness sometime. Ueno Park is a nice way to spend some relaxing time walking around with a few temples, ponds, zoo for the children (free under 12), and what's left of the lake to walk around or to paddle on; because most of it is cover with high lotus plant.
You have a easy access from the Ueno subway station (280Y/1 way or 600Y for a day pass)
