The sushi is good, not great, but it is very reasonable in price. The sushi cuts are neither expertly done nor esthetic, but the quantity is certainly there. Iced green tea at Yen 300 is steep, but the beer and wine are not. English is non-existent, but an English translated menu appears quickly and is very helpful. Local place.

This is far from the best sushi but it's good for its price. They have certain sets which also comes out to be cheaper than ordering individually. No one speaks English but there's no need when there's a menu in English and you just simply write down how many you want.

The cuts of the fish isn't exactly the best though.

Got a lot of suggestion to have breakfast of sushi at Tsukiji when visit Tokyo. Unfortunately I visited Tokyo on Sunday when Tsukiji was closed. So had sushi in Sushizanmai Ueno, instead of its store in Tsukiji.

I ordered maguro zanmai set... fresh and very delicious, raise my standard of sushi when back to Indonesia :)
... hope someday can try sushi at Tsukiji.

After had breakfast here, I explored Ueno Park.

There is something fun about just pointing to things on a menu you can't read or throwing your hands in the air to convey 'bring me whatever the sushi chef recommends.' But picture menus and English-speaking staff are nice too :) We had miso crab soup which is totally worth the labor required to pull the legs off the thing. Then I had a sushi platter - the medium priced one. I have limited experience with sushi in Japan but this is far better than anything in NYC - the rice really does make it and the wasabi is somehow a little fresher tasting (and served between the rice & the fish traditionally). The beer was cold and the non-smoking section was surprisingly non-smoky. Highly recommended.

Excellent sushi, tempura and seafood soups. Super cheap. I've hit two different branches of sushi zanmai on my Tokyo trip. Both were equally delicious. Highly recommended.
