“Perfect family accomodation in Asakusa”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

We are back from Japan, we are a family of 4 and booked via internet to K's house oasis Asakusa without knowing what we would have found. The accomodation was perfect, The location is simply great, Asakusa is one of the best place to stay, out of the hectic districts like Shibuya or Shinjuku. Close to the subway station, even the one on Gonza line is not too far. It is surrounded by lots of places like Denny's or Life, which is a huge supermarket in case you want to cook yourselves. The room was with two bunkbeds, a toilet and a separate shower. Considering Japanese standard the shower was the biggest we had during our trip througout Japan. The staff was extremely friendly and available and the place was extremely clean! We always found the computer free and the kitchen was very well equipped, good price and best choice

We spent four nights at K's House Oasis. We stayed in a very clean and spacious private twin room with bathroom facilities. We enjoyed having a TV in the room as well as air air conditioning and free wifi access. The staff spoke fluent English (and some French it seemed) and were very helpful in guiding us around Tokyo and giving us food tips for Asakusa. The kitchen facilities were small but sufficient. There was complimentary green tea in the kitchen, and a communal lounge space with a TV near the reception desk. We enjoyed taking the elevator to our rooms, especially with our heavy suitcases. The hostel is located a little further out but there are a number of stations nearby to access the metro and JR lines. On the plus side, it is located close to the airport. Highly recommended!

We stayed at this hostel during the Sanja Matsuri. The staff were among the most friendly I have ever met, and this coming from someone who has stayed in over 15 different accommodations around Japan, a country that prides itself on its service. We stayed in the 5 dorm room, which was a bit small as all five of us brought reasonably large sized baggage. Other than that, the beds were comfortable. However, we had our own toilet, and there is another one located in the laundry room right next to our room. The downside was that the elevator only reached up to the 4th floor, and we had to climb the stairs (which were narrow and high) to reach our floor, which was a bit annoying as the bathroom was on the 4th floor as well.

Location wise, this area is perfect for exploring Asakusa. It is about a 4-5 minute walk to reach Sensoji temple, 2-3 minute walk to the Tsukuba Express line (which connects directly to Akihabara), 8-10 minute walk to the Ginza line and just one block away from Kappabashi. The only thing is that this area is not well serviced by JR lines, and the walk to the elevator for the Asakusa line (to get to Haneda or Narita airport) is quite far by foot. Nonetheless, this area was surprisingly quiet considering that there was a major festival occurring a few blocks away (except on the Sunday morning when the parades were progressing all over the district).

Overall, highlight recommend staying here! Location alone is well worth the 2,900 I paid.

I travelled to Tokyo for the first time with a friend of mine. We spent 3 nights at K's House Tokyo Oasis and it was by far the best hostel we stayed at in Japan. We had a private twin room with more than enough space for what we needed. The bathroom was compact but clean and modern. The staff were so helpful and true Japanese style, very very polite and helpful. They gave us some great tips on where to find good place to eat and shop in the near by area as well as some tips about getting some great shots of the near by Senso-ji Temple at night (a must do by the way - it lights up beautifully at night!).

With our heavy bags we were really grateful to see an elevator that meant there was no need to lug heavy bags up stairs and the whole place had a very warm and welcoming charm to it.

The location was good. 15 min walk to the Ginza Line on the metro, but closer to the Asakusa station (though not directly connected to the metro). There are loads of bars, restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance and it was only 5 minutes from Sensoji-Temple.

Room Tip: The private rooms are great and having your own bathroom is really nice!

We had a great 3 day stay at K's house. The location is great, just a 5/10 minute walk to the Senoji temple which is in the heart of Asakusa, surrounded by stalls of foods and nic naks.. There is a small family mart around the corner which opens 24/7 but also a super market which offers the most amazing bento style food and loooaaads of other fresh goodies to try.. There are also plenty of places to eat on your doorstep at K's... The Staff were super helpfull and friendly, the place had a very welcoming feel..

Just a couple of things that could have made our stay a little better.. we stayed in the double room (the bed was BIG and really compfy) the size was just right but the window opened onto a brick wall, a very close brick wall so we had no natural light and no idea what the weather was doing each morning !! Also we couldnt check in untill 4pm!! We arrived around 12pm, had done a 12hr flight and wound the clocks forward 8 hours, it was HOT and we were forced to roam the streets for 4 hours unitll we were allowed to check in.. we were however asked if we wanted to leave our bags and use the toilets but we really could have done with a shower and chill out, not walking the streets really not appreciating the beautiful town.. Regardless of this, we had a great stay and i would recomend K's oasis to my nearest and dearest...

We stayed at K's Tokyo Oasis for 5 nights in a Double Private Ensuite Room. Overall, we had a great stay that convinced us to stay at K's hostels in other cities in Japan.

Pros:
- Location: less than a 10 minute walk to the metro. Situated very close to the Senso-ji Temple. Tokyo is so large that wherever you stay you will need to use the metro often.
- Value: Japan is quite expensive, felt like we got our money's worth at this K's (size of room, location, amenities).
- Cleanliness: rooms and common areas were very clean.
- Kitchen: small, full kitchen available. Free coffee and tea.
- Staff: above and beyond the normal levels of helpfulness and patience.
- Laundry: coin operated washers and dryers available.
- Quiet: the hostel is pretty small but never was noisy.
- Free Wifi: never had any issues with it.

Cons:
- Room: the room we had didn't have a window (no natural light) and unfortunately no other rooms were available (staff did their best to try to accommodate).

Recommendation:
Stay here over the K's House Tokyo (we ended up staying at both) it is nicer overall. Just try to get a room with a window!

We stayed at K's hostel just after we have landed in Tokyo.
It was a great place to start travel from.
We stayed in the private room, double bed, Western style. Actually, it was the only place that had a western beds with relatively soft mattress; Others we stayed in, had very hard mattresses, which after some time we found more compfortable than our bad at home.
The room we stayed was 302, and it was nice, though a little bit small as there were not so much place for our bags. Overall, the room was clean, but in the bathroom there was very strage smell which was there the entire time of our stay.
The hostel has an elivator, wich makes it really easy to take your bags to the upper floors. They also have a free coffee and tea, and a very nice and clean kitchen. Though we didn't use the kitchen, so I can't tell how well it was equipped.
The staff of the hostel are very good, they help you with anything you need, and their English is very good.
The location is good if you decide to stay in Taito, if you want to go to Shibuya or Shinjuki, it's a bit far away and as we were on a budget travel, we had to get back with the last metro train not to take a taxi, which is quite expensive in Tokyo.
Tip - if you book in advance your stay in Japan, and manage to cover couple of nights in K's chain - they will give you a card that you stamp for each stay and after coupleof stays (I don't remember how many) you can get a free night. It's personal and cannot be transferred to a friend.
