“Small but complete”

After reading reviews from others.. I have expectation was small, so when I checked into the room.. Indeed it was really small however to my shock, they are able to squeezed all amenities in! You have a Flat screen Tv, a mini fridge, hairdryer, body massager, leg massager, bath tub *i would say this is a standing bath tub lol.. You can actually sit and it fits you perfectly if you are an average size..toilet is small but complete and their amenities are superb handy and of spa quality. Location wise.. It's only 5minutes away from ueno station and surrounding of the hotels there are many convinirht stores , wending machines , restaurants pubs and bars.. Quite a good place for those enjoying night life. Price wise .. Affordable I paid around usd110 per night. The room is also very very clean ., I try find strands of hairs or dust .. Lol None! The housekeeper are indeed good. And best thing breakfast and wifi is free! What else you could ask for in Tokyo! If

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on arrival from Narita and prior to traveling on by train the next day. The room is very small by U.S. standards, but is well equipped. I would not chose to stay here for multiple days due the room size. A very nice breakfast is included in the hotel charge. It is within easy walking distance from the two major train stations at Uneo. It is easy to find a variety of restaurants on foot. The staff were very welcoming and responsive to questions. I did not have a chance to use the Sauna.

We stayed here not really knowing where to go in Tokyo. Man, were we lucky. It was easy to find from the train station and Ueno turned out to be a charming place. We'd go back in an instant.

We loved the hotel, the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Their English wasn't perfect, but what they lacked in speaking abilities they made up for in enthusiasm and kindness.

The room was small, but hey, that's Japan. It had two rooms, a living room and a bedroom and it was fine. The bathroom was small, but then we found out about the communal spa and that's the best place to shower and clean up. It's all included in the price and what a nice surprise.

There were all kinds of small spa related items in the room which my wife promptly went nuts for. Nice touch. The other hotel we stayed in had no such items.

We found great restaurants all over the place. The nightlife was close to zero for a couple. Not that I really understand the Japanese red-light scene anyway it was not what we were there for. We found a small "Jazz Bar" but the cover charge was $25 per person and it didn't look like it was going to amount to much. We were back at the hotel early and that was fine.

The breakfast was very well done too. We'll be back for sure.

Room Tip: We had the king non smoking, it was fine. Didn't see other rooms.

We stayed 5 nights here and I changed another booking to stay here other night. I think it's good situated to visit Tokyo because Ueno is a good transport node (train, metro, buses...)
The room was small but it's normal in Japan and its price is fine for that. I have to work during those days and the Internet connection was superb!
The views from the room was amazing with the Ueno Park, nice to see it at sunrise and nightfall.
The spa is good and typical Japanese (men and women separated).

Room Tip: View to Ueno park.

Overall it is a good hotel, I found the staff courteous and polite (just like everywhere else in Japan!), excellent location, great facilities, breakfast was tasty and pretty good value for money.
The only bad thing was that the rooms were really, really small, more of a shoebox really! Two sides of the bed were against a wall, and not much aisle space for walking let alone luggage. However I did marvel at their ingenuous use of space! In a toilet the size of a small wardrobe, they managed to cram a toilet, sink, shower and a bath (though baby sized as it was).
The hotel also had ladies and mens baths, which was worth a visit after a long day of sightseeing to soak in a beautiful hot bath and use the massage chairs!

Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Just loved the small Japanese bath in the room. Great to relax in after running around all day. Amazing spa facilities, includes jacuzzi, aromatic hot stone sauna, massage chairs, vibration trainer and traditional Japanese bath facilities Loved the free skin care products, shampoo and conditioner. Open from 5am to 10am and 15:00 to 1am. Amazing skin care products. There is a small fridge in the room to keep drinks chilled. Also a kettle, massage pillow and neck massager. Loved that guests can have a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes for breakfast each day. And yummy dessert to take away for later. My room (603) had an amazing view over the water pond and Ueno park. Ueno station is just 6 to 8min away from Tokyo central station on the JR train line. Hotel also supplies free tourist brochures in a couple of languages. Free and fast WiFi

Room Tip: Select a room with a view of the park

My stay at Coco Grand Ueno was amazing. The 7 of us stayed over 4 different rooms. While the rooms are tiny, they are fully equipped. You cannot fault the rooms, really! They even have two portable messagers to help your body after a whole day of walking (You'll be walking lots around Ueno for the food and the shopping!). Location is great, really close to both Ueno Keisei station (Keisei station takes you from Ueno to Narita Airport in 41 minutes), the Shinkansen station (inter-cities), and the Metro Ueno station. The hotel is 5 minutes away from Ameyokocho, a great area full of izakayas (local bars with yummy snacks) and 5 minutes away from Ueno Park where there are many museums worth seeing. The best parts of this hotel are the buffet breakfast (offering Japanese and western food) and the hot baths (separate male and female, no additional charge). The baths are equipped with message chairs and showers, as the Japanese tradition requires you to shower before bathing. Be respectful and remember that the baths are for soaking and not for cleaning. Also worth mentioning is the fact that the hotel has two vending machines for drinks and ice creams, and a laundry/dryer is a refreshing change from the exorbitant prices other hotels charge for laundry. The only minor fault is there is only one elevator, but I never had to wait for too long.
