“Biggest room I've ever seen in Tokyo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2012

This was my families second trip to Tokyo and since we were travelling with kids who may have needed daytime sleeps we really wanted something bigger which is usually impossible to find in Tokyo. We wanted to be in a suburb that had enough entertainment if we were tired we didn't have to go train hopping so Ueno with it's parks, shops & zoo was perfect.
We booked the Junior Suite and it was a great size, had a seperate lounge area with a convertable sofa bed. Great to put the kids down for a nap & then hang out in the next room. The hotel itself is small but has everything you need, drink vending machines, washing machines, a complimentary breakfast (toast/pastries) and the staff are so lovely and helpfull despite the language barriers! No wifi in the rooms but they do have internet connection & free use computers in the hotel lobby.
The location is great, take the train direct from the airport to Ueno and then Ueno itself has so much to offer. Plenty of food options nearby from high class to cheap Japanese versions of fast food. Also has 3 x mini marts all within a 100mtr walk if you need to duck out.
It isn't the cheapest place out there but we have no issues paying extra for space if it means adults/kids stay rested & happy on holidays!
Other reviews have commented on the noise, I did notice it the first night a couple of times during the night but then didn't after that so I really don't think it is that bad.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites are really worth the extra money if you need space.

Stayed here on my last night in Tokyo as it was the perfect location for getting to the airport in the morning - next to Ueno station for the Skyliner. The room is pretty small although the bathroom was a good size, clean and comfortable. It was expensive for what you get but then again this is Tokyo after all so I think better value than some I looked at.

We stayed in this hotel 2 nights, with our 2 year old girl. The room is very clean and has everything you need. But it is very very small. I think it is quite usual in Tokyo though.
Breakfast was good and ready at 6 am.
Very good internet connection
The location is perfect, direct from the aiport and next to Ueno park.

Our third stay at this hotel was a delight yet again! Clean rooms with fast internet (lan cable), and a nice European style breakfast.

Its so convenient too, a few minutes walk to Ueno park and station.. For easy access from Narita, take the Skyliner instead of the N'ex, it goes straight to Ueno!

The only thing I could fault is perhaps a mismatch between western expectations and what this hotel delivers. Its very much like visiting Paris, the breakfast is small but filling, the rooms are not light tight, and you sometimes hear the expressway.

Overall this place is great value, and we will be staying again in a couple of weeks..

Stayed in this hotel 3 years in a row. The room always clean. Everything in it works. Front desk service is friendly and efficient. Very convenient location with many restaurants, shops, train and subway stations.

Room Tip: The 3 rooms I stayed in were good. I do not think there's a bad room.
