We chose this place based on the reviews from tripadvisor - and we certainly have no regrets! Mrs Chen and her staff were friendly and accommodating. She allowed us to check in early as the room was available and this is definitely much appreciated after a night flight and helped to book tickets. There is free bread for breakfast and free use of washing machine (including washing powder) and dryer.

We stayed in Annex Room (Y12,000/rm/night) and later at one of the rooms with attached toilet in the Main Building (Y10,500). The Annex room is bigger, with separate dining and sleeping areas. It is more spacious as compared to the rooms in the Annex.

Out of all the places that I've stayed in Tokyo, this has to be one of the best. Not only is it located in Ikebukuro, a place where you can always find things to do, Mrs. Chen and other staff are extremely accommodating as well. The shared toilets and shower are very clean and the rooms are comfortable and cosy. But be warned if you have heavy luggages -- it's a bit difficult carrying them down the steep stairs.

I'm going back to Tokyo in December and will definitely be staying with them again.

Good location, excellent service, very clean and neat. If you do not mind sharing the toilet and bathroom, this is definitely a place to stay. Mrs Chen is very friendly and it is good that the staff can speak English and Chinese. We have breakfast provided as well, beyond expectation. Great value.

Overall, this small family house is a very clean and budget place to stay in Tokyo. 5 mins walking distance from Ikebukuro station (very convenient place to stay, with good connection to subway and JR yamanote line).

Room size is adequate for 2 persons, toilets and shower rooms are clean, free drinking water, coffee and green tea, complimentary usage of internet.

However, we were quite disappointing for our first day of stay in Ikebukuro House. We have reserved 5 nights straight in a standard twin room, and was told on first night it is all fully booked. We were asked to move to a very very mini room with bunk bed. There is no space for standing even in that room. I guess it is a converted store room. Nevertheless, we were changed back to the normal room the day after.

Other than that, this is not a too bad place to stay if you are traveling on a tight budget.

Stayed at house ikebukuro for 3 days and this ryokan met our expectation and beyond after we compared with the transfer to another ryokan during our five days stay in tokyo. The sheets were clean and all the basic essentials were provided, toilet and shower rooms were clean and well maintained. We stayed in the annex as there were 3 of us and we enjoyed the pleasant stay including the free desktop with internet in the room. Highly recommend without any reservation. The web instruction given for the location of the place is to exit from the train station and walk along the main street. The shortcut is to walk westward within the station station and lookout for C1 exit.
