“Great hotel, great location”
Reviewed November 6, 2012 via mobile

This hotel is very nice. It is extremely clean and modern inside. It is only a few minutes walk from outside the ikebukuro station via the east exit. By the way if you can't find a sign that says east exit, follow the signs to north exit and you will then pick up the signs for east exit we walking to the hotel.

Check in/out was easy and quick. The member of staff spoke enough English for us to get checked in. Didn't have to use them for anything else. It's best to do lots of research before coming to Japan, and make plans of for what you want to do and how to get there. It makes your trip so much easier and enjoyable.

My husband and I stayed in a basic double room. We were concerned about the bed size but it turned out to be a UK size double bed (which is what we are used to in the UK anyway!). The rooms are compact but this is japan after all. We had enough room at the end if the bed to lay our suitcases on the floor with our clothes piled in them. The shower is definitely a highlight. Great to wake you up for a busy day in tokyo!

We had breakfast included. Not a great deal of western choices but there is cereal, toast and fruit juices. To be honest why would you want to fill up on that when you there is all that yummy Japanese food in tokyo to try.

Dear Sazzykins

You chose a really nice time to travel to Tokyo - the weather is a little cooler and nice clear sky days are very common. We are pleased that you enjoyed the hotel and facilities.

As mentioned, there is so much to offer right at your doorstep - wonderful food, great shopping and there are some many sights that can be accessed easily.

We hope to see you back again soon at one of the b hotels in Tokyo or across Japan.

Kind regards

We stayed at the B Ikebukuro on our final night in Japan. The hotel is a mere two blocks from bustling Ikebukuro Station. This is especially convenient for those traveling on the Narita Airport Express train as it serves the Ikebukuro stop. Ikebukuro Station also houses lines on the JR and Metro systems. The staff always greeted us with a smile and was happy to answer any questions we had. The hotel was clean and our room was adequately sized. The bathroom was modern, with a semi-private door - this was not a concern as long as the other party was not standing immediately next to the bathroom - don't be too scared though - there is a partition between the bathroom and the rest of the room. Free wired internet in the room and wifi is provided in the lobby. Breakfast was nice, with a mix of Japanese and Western offerings. There is plenty to do in the neighborhood - lots of shopping and eating options. I highly recommend the B Ikebukuro to those on a budget wanting a clean, modern hotel in a convenient part of Tokyo.

Dear Smokie_Monroe

Thank you for yuour comments and for taking the time to post them on Trip Advisor.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. We agree, there is so much to see and do in the area, plus the subway and JR networks are so good, you can travel easily all over Tokyo from the hotel.

And, as you said, the shopping in the area is amazing.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again soon.

Kind regards

I totally recommend this hotel for those who travel in Tokyo. Hotel location is very close to JR and Metro which easy to travel around Tokyo and nearby. Breakfast is good .T he room (superior double) is not that large but can stay very comfort for 2 persons. The room itself is very clean and look very new and modern.

Dear aoey_cartoon

Thank you for your kind comments. We try to offer the guest a comfortable stay at a very reasonable price. We like that you also enjoyed the style of the rooms.

Most people come to Tokyo to experience all that it is famous for, so a smaller room is often more than adequate - as guests find themselves outside enjoying this wonderful city.

We hope to see you back again soon - either at the b ikebukuro or one of our sister hotels across Japan.

Kind regards

We struggled to find The B in Ikebukuro (combination of forgetting to print a map and the fact the addresses are hard to figure out for non-Japanese) but when we did we found it comfortable and clean with friendly staff. The staff's English is not the greatest and their local knowledge doesn't seem to be the best (we asked to find a local bar with wifi) but it was a good experience overall. Breakfast is a huge buffet with anything you may want (though I couldn't stomach having chips at 8am). Overall a nice place.

Dear Lee D

Thank you for staying and for posting your comments.

Like anywhere in Tokyo a map is essential, particularly around the larger subways that have lots of shops, restaurants and bars.

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We will continue to work with Team Members to maximise English skills, and recruit more English speakers where possible.

We trust that you will visit us again, and we look froward to welcoming you.

Thank you for your comments. It's great that you enjoyed your stay at the b ikebukuro. Thanks also for listing the elements of your positive stay.

As mentioned teh hotel is great for single guests, we also have twin and triple rooms but they fill up quite quickly, so any couples, friends or small families wanting to stay generally need to book early, particularly on weekends.

The hotel is centrally located, making it easy for access all across Tokyo.

We hope to welcome you back to the hotel again soon.

Kind regards

The hotel is 5 min from Ikebukuro station. Well marked and thus easy to find. Around, large number of good restaurants and shops around while less busy than Shinjuko.

The hotel room is small but very practical. Even nice reading lamp by the bed. Fast internet. AC is not as silent as in other Japanese hotels but still quiet by USA standards. Good breakfast in a well-laid restaurant. Service is good although not everyone speaks good English and extending stay for 1 hr requires extra payment.

Many trains from the nearby station but they all take time if one wants to explore main sites in Tokyo. If one values own time, consider getting a hotel located more strategically.

Thank you for choosing the b ikebukuro and for sharing your comments on Trip Advisor.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. As Tokyo is such a large city it always involves travel on the train system to get to the major sites - as long as your day is planned this process can often be made easier to make the most of your time.

We try to offer extras to make the guest stay more special - and we are pleased you enjoyed the nice touches.

We hope to see you back at the b ikebukuro soon.

At first we were shocked by the small room size. but then it didn't seem matter anymore after shower. they got the rain shower head and made us didn't want to leave the shower! it sure helps to recover after a full day of walking.

Then there is the buffet breakfast. so good! got both western and japanese style.

Friendly and helpful stuff who speaks english.

Dear camanchow

Thank you for choosing the b ikebukuro and for sharing your comments on Trip Advisor.

Smaller rooms are quite common in Tokyo given the limited space, and most guests are very happy as they spend most of the time exploring this amazing city.

Any you are right, it is so nice at the end of the day to come back and enjoy an amazing shower, and then prepare yourself the next morning with a great breakfast ready for another day of sightseeing, shopping and just enjoying Tokyo.

We hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to a b hotel soon.
