Since it's a new landmark in tokyo; if you are in tokyo with a free time, a must place to check out.

I only get to the ground of the place because it will take me to book and to queue up for almost a day to get up there. The lower part is ok. Spend time relaxing and go for a green tea ice cream which is very good.

The tower itself is very nice to look at from outside, its very tall and magnificent. About the view from the tower observatory, I suggest to go during night. I went at the morning, the view is just so so. Not very special. I believe the night view will be much more stunning. Unfortunately, you have to queue for a long line to go up. Even if you reach the observatory, the sheer amount of visitors might make your trip less enjoyable.

It's expensive (2000Yen to Tembo & frm 1st deck another 1000Yen to 2nd deck), compare to the free TMG, not to mention the long queue even on weekday, one have to get a numbered ticket for the time slot then upon time slot have to queue again for the ticket purchase (which i totally feel its a stupid system, they shud hav let u buy the ticket while waitin for entrance timing instead of reach entrance timing then queue for ticket), thn hav to queue & squeeze for the lift thn only reach the ultimate destination. I do not want to pre-book the ticket scaring the weathr might b awful since the adm is so expensive.

The 1st deck wide window allows better view, 2nd deck thou higher but have more bars in btw so difficult for pics but will have wider window near end of the route. I recommend goin in the late evenin to see the sunset & wait for the nite view, also make sure to check weather.

Also note that there're gaps btw window & safety bar so be careful of ur mobile phone & cameras whn takin pics, i've seen 2 ppl drop their mobile into the gap during my visit & required the staff to retrieve.

This is recommended for visit If u hav time & budget & don wanna miss the latest landmark of Tokyo, else TMG and Tokyo Tower will be better option

I had read lots reviews of "lone queue" and "long waiting time for buying tickets", so I decided to book tickets from its official site. Although it is 500 Yen more expensive for a date & time reserved ticket than the simple one (date reserved), it was still worth for us visitors.
We were lucky that after one year's service, there were not so crowded than we expected--although we went there on Chinese New Year vacation! Of course, the reserved ticket also did a good help for us.
The night view was stunning (we entered around 17:30), Tokyo City seemed to expend until the horizon, which is the largest metro I have ever seen.
There were some shops (cafe, souvenir, photo taking...etc) on the top. Photo service is 1200 yen once (buy or not) and they also take one photo with your camera.
It was a good experience, and the shopping mall "Soramachi" was also fun.
Worth a visit!

p.s. we went Asakusa Temple first in the morning and then walk to Sky Tree. Soramachi was our time-killer in the afternoon. If you finish visiting Sky Tree in afternoon, you can also try taking a cruise to Odaiba for night life! The Tokyo Cruise station is right close to Tobu Asakusa Station (3 min's walk from subway Asakusa Station)!

Tokyo Sky Tree was crowded - long lines for tickets - close to an hour wait until we got on the elevator. Recommend going to the Tokyo Tower. Positive is the shopping on the lower levels (2-4). Food vendors are abundant. You could easily have lunch or dinner here.
