Stayed for three nights. Not sure how it got. 3.5 star rating. One to two is closer to correct. Bathroom fan goes continuously so forget sleeping. Bathtub was filthy, overflow outlet we cleaned, must be 20 years bacteria came off. Bought bleach across the road as couldn't cancel booking without penalty. Moved out ASAP to better hotel. Location far from station and everywhere. Room coach filthy and old. Pillow inside stained but they replaced with slightly better half stabbed one. Breakfast everybody helps themselves no food covers.

Room Tip: Hard. Building works outside window

Stayed here 3 nights. Very close to Shinjuku. Stayed on the 13th floor. Room was very clean but basic. For the price, this was a decent hotel across from 7/11 with an ATM. There's also a Grocery store on the right side of the hotel. Everything you need is walking distance. It may seem like you are very secluded from Shunjuke but once you walk around the area you'll realise that it is a very good location with 2 subway stops nearby -Shinjuku station and shinjuku Gyoemmae.

15 minute walk to the centre of all the action Shinjuku has to offer as well as the main station. 7/11 is right over the road which is very convenient. The room is small, however has everything you need.

Spacious and good value for money for Tokyo accom. Bathroom is a little small, but no smaller than some of the other accom we have stayed in Tokyo with similar pricing, at least this one has room for us to open our luggages (instead of on the bed). Clean rooms and helpful staff. About 10 min walk to Shinjuku-Sanchome station.

Would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-smoking room as they have 13 levels, and only 4 levels are non smoking.

If you're after a central location, minutes from the hubbub of Shinjuku, but minus said hubbub in your face, the Listel's your place. Located adjacent to the Tokyo Medical University, the narrow street features several restaurants and cafes that rev into life in the evenings, and a great lunchtime cafe under the Imano Hostel just along the road. There's also a handy late night launderette, a Family Mart and a 7-Eleven, all about 100 metres from the front door of the hotel. It's probably the same walking distance in two directions to Shinjuku-gyommae and Shinjuku-sanchome metro stations, both about 10 minutes: en route to the former, there are umpteen restaurants and a pharmacy; the latter is nearer the Shinjuku-nichome gay area. We stayed three nights. I'm 185cm tall; the Listel reminded me of level 7-and-a-half in the film, "Being John Malkovich". Talk about life imitating art. I had to duck under a couple of bulkheads (mercifully labelled CAUTION) and the broad horizontal stripes in the hallway wallpaper and small hotel room doors added to the sense of the ceilings being lowered. Look, you've gotta have a sense of humour when you travel, right. The Listel gave me a laugh. Yes, the room was microscopic, and the bathroom - true of many other hotel bathrooms in Japan - was a prefab fit-out like something out of my aunty's caravan. All of it was spotlessly clean and serviced daily to perfection. There are limited non-smoking floors as other reviewers have noted and we lucked out there, but we picked up a cheap gel deodoriser at the pharmacy, set it inside the front door of the room, and it did the trick. The window opened easily and we left it open all day when we went out. The Listel is an inexpensive, superbly located base for exploring Tokyo. I note that there are other options in the same street; if considering the Listel, check out the Hotel Via Inn, too.

Room Tip: Skip the cold scrambled eggs and colder broccoli at breakfast and visit a cafe down the street instead.
