Located right at Shinjuku district and a short walk from the subway, I visited Shinjuku Gyoen on the last day of my stay in Tokyo. The well-planned garden with awesome landscaping made a wonderful getaway from the hectic city. There's also a greenhouse inside and it's definitely a Must-Visit for nature lovers and photography buffs. As I visited during the cherry blossom period, Shinjuku Gyoen presented a wide variety of sakura & various flora to shoot.

P.S: It's lovely to picnic or grab some food & watch the world goes by!

gorgeous park! Awesome photo opportunities. Our favorite park in Tokyo.

be aware - they are closed on Mondays. And they close the gates at 4pm on the days they are open.

The Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is a Tokyo must-see. We were a little disappointed upon learning an admission fee is levied (JPY 200) to enter, but the price was worth it -- even in March, when much of the greenery was dead. The cherry trees were in full bloom, and professional and amateur photographers were out in force to capture their beauty. The two-story greenhouse was a deliciously warm escape from the chill outside.

If we lived in Tokyo, I could see buying an annual pass to the garden.

The garden is divided into 3: Japanese, English and French. We especially liked the Japanese garden, as it is very tranquil and the shapes of the trees and reflections in the water were spectacular.
