This place, like so many others on the street, only has seats for 10 people, maybe less. You can choose from a great selection of seafood, meat and vegetables on skewers, that will be cooked to order right in front of you.
There is plenty for the less adventurous - chicken, salmon or mushrooms - and plenty more for those willing to try something new - octopus, pig heart, pig intestines.... One of our favourites was tomato wrapped in bacon - so simple, but totally delicious.
We had a wonderful evening watching the chef and his assistant - possibly his wife - busily catering to the demands of his customers, who were a mixture of locals and tourists. They were friendly and courteous at all times, and even provided a little "cheat sheet" with key Japanese phrases so that we could communicate a little bit better.
Even if you don't go to Fukuhachi, take a wander down the very atmospheric street that it is on. If you do decide to eat there, you won't be disappointed.
