“Great location”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

I definitely recommend this hotel to travellers to Tokyo. It is in an excellent location, just a short walk (5-10 mins) from the Shinjuku station. The room I stayed in was quite spacious which is rare in Tokyo, there was plenty of space to walk around, even with 2 large suitcases on the floor. Not the most modern looking hotel in terms of decor, but that is not a concern to me, as long as it is clean and comfortable, which it was. Also very well priced for a hotel in Tokyo especially in the Shinjuku area!

I stayed in this hotel with my family. Having been well acquainted with how hotel rooms can be astoundingly small in Japan, I was surprised to find the room I to be "spacious". We had 3 single beds in the room, but still manage to get out of one another's way and move around rather comfortably.

The bath, too, was very nice and clean. The shower is separate so it was handy in the morning when one can shower quickly while another brush her teeth.

On the first night we were in the hotel, we managed to get wifi in our room. However, for the second night onward, there was no wifi in the room but only in the lobby.

On another note, this hotel is extremely well located. It was an easy 10 minute walk to Shinjuku Station and area, which was already very fun with great shopping and dining options. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the Nishi-Shinjuku metro station. The Airport Limosine stops at the Hilton, which is just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel.

Definitely well located and I would definitely visit this hotel again when I'm in Tokyo for leisure in the future.

Finding affordable accommodation in Tokyo is tricky. I arrived with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprise at the Hotel Rose Garden. Just don't expect much. The lobby is on the ground floor. The decor looked kind of vintage 80's with lots of mauve and frilly stuff, but it was spacious with ample seating. The hotel is easy to find and very close to Shinjuku station. The room was indeed small, but we were able to manage for 9 nights with one large suitcase each. We even had a window with a decent view. It's kinda like living on a ship, but instead of the sound of waves rocking you to sleep, you have the lovely police station sirens to keep you company. It's a big city, noise is inevitable. The bed is halfway between a single and a double, but we found it cosy and we are average Western sized people. As is the custom, we were given slippers and sleepwear that we promptly stuffed into the tiny closet. The room had a tv, mini fridge and small desk. I was amazed that there was a kettle, a hairdryer, complimentary toiletries and Japanese toilet. They managed to stuff quite a lot in a small space. The temperature of the room can be adjusted pretty well and the windows open. The staff were efficient, but not overly friendly. It was very clean. I enjoyed the soft twinkly music they played in the hallways. Their Italian restaurant looked pretty bad. We found a great chicken place down the street below Cafe Renoir. It's not touristy, so prepare to point out what you'd like.

Room Tip: It may be less noisy if you ask for a room in the rear of the building. We were close to the Police...

Great location - short walk from Shinjuku train station and right next to the tube. Rooms are tiny, but that's the norm for Tokyo/Japanese hotels I understand. We arrived fairly early in the morning, but our room was ready, which was an unexpected but lovely surprise, as we'd just come off a 12 hour flight! We ate in the hotel on the first night and while the restaurant was really quiet, only ourselves and another couple, the service was attentive and the food very good. It was FREEZING while we were there, so the heated toilet seat in the en-suite was bliss and the hotel provided umbrellas when we headed out as it was snowing while we were there. There's a convenience store just along from the hotel. So to summarise, fantastic location - the airport bus drops you off at Shinjuku station and you literally have a 10 minute walk to the hotel. Rooms are small, but clean and good value. Friendly. English speaking reception staff.

The hotel is very clean, as all japanese places, and it is favourably located for travelling everywhere. Check in was fast, a bit impersonal. My room was small, I expected something better though. Cannot complain, check for good rates.

This hotel is conveniently located opposite Nishi-Shinjuku station on the Maranouchi line around 10 minutes walk from Shinjuku. Its a great location from where to explore the glitzy barrage of neon, that is Shinjuku.
Be prepared to get lost in Shinjuku but getting lost in Shinjuku is exactly what you MUST do. It's an amazing experience!!! You can orient yourselves by using the distinctive Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower as a landmark. The hotel is also around 2 blocks away from the Tokyo Metropolitan Building, which has an observatory that's free of charge from where you can see fantastic views of the amazing Tokyo urban sprawl.
The hotel's rooms are very small and very clean but so is every hotel room in Japan. We stayed there for 3 nights at $100 a night and we felt it was totally worth it.

This hotel is great if you are staying in town on business & only need somewhere to sleep. The rooms are comfortable if a little small by European standards but they have everything you need.
