This place is Devine and it feels food to have a little bit of home in a foreign coutry! The location of this restaurant is in the basement of the train station on the 7th floor!! Note:: the elevators do not open to the 7/8th floors until 11 so what I've been told is a line forms on the 6th floor in front of the elevator so once the doors open they dash to the 7th floor for Slappy's..let me say the lines are long and the wait over 2 hours! Once you are seated you have the option to have your food cooked or you can have a table with a griddle and cook your own pancakes! You have several options of pancake batters:: wheat, buttermilk, peanut butter and one other that I can't remember! There are over 10 options for toppings to include in your pancakes::for example you can have pecans, bananas, chocolate chip, etc.. to add to your cooking experience..you may also purchase sides eggs...bacon....potatoes...or other items.. Note: 1 order of eggs=2eggs... 2 orders of eggs =4eggs so becareful when ordering eggs! The service is top notch and the price-well it's Tokyo so a little pricey but you won't break the bank! Enjoy!!

“breakfast perfection”
Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

There is a dearth of good American breakfast spots in Tokyo so I am very thankful to see Slappy Cakes come to town. As of this writing, the restaurant is barely a month old so be prepared to wait in line pretty much any time you go. There are 4 different pancake batter flavors to choose from and I had my heart set on peanut butter. UNTIL I saw that they had country fried steak topped with sausage gravy. Another very rare, almost unheard of menu item in Tokyo. It came with scrambled eggs and fried potato chunks. Other "Slappy Plates" include Toad in a Hole, Seasonal Vegetable Scramble, and the Truck Stop.

Being the pancake purist that my husband is, he went for the buttermilk pancakes. He ordered 2 without knowing that they would each measure about 8" (20 cm) across. He gave it his best shot, but could only eat a little more than half of the 2 pancake serving. We sat at the counter and ordered from the menu, but they also have tables with griddles built in that allow you to prepare your own pancakes with an assortment of toppings, if you want to be adventurous.
