“Great experience if new to Tokyo”
Reviewed September 10, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I booked the 6hr package with Akio on 10 Sept 2013. We strongly recommend first timers to Japan a bike tour. It's a great way to see the city. We loved cycling through the small streets (dori), felt like a local, esp with so many other locals cycling alongside us.

Akio is a patient and friendly guide, and his bikes are in excellent condition. Only downside were the swarm of mosquitoes at the Cemetery, do be careful there.

Unlike the other bike tour company in Shinjuku, Akio doesn't require guests to wear helmets, which is fine really, as you would want to travel at a leisurely sightseeing pace. Plus none of the locals wear them anyway.

Thank you Akio for your wonderful

I was desperate to see Tokyo by bike and this tour worked out very well. Although there is a standard (and comprehensive) tour lasting 6 hours, we only had a morning available. On short notice, Akio put together a 3 hour tour for the two of us that covered the highlights and we were happy with what we saw (shrine, palace, cemetery, stadium).

We had decent quality mountain bikes that were well maintained. (I think these are a good choice for Westerners who would like a comfortable ride and a range of gears for the few hilly sections of the ride.)

Akio speaks good English and his pre-ride briefing set us at ease. The route is fairly sensible and safe; we didn't feel worried at any point. He gives a good commentary (quick lesson on the Meiji restoration was useful for someone who hadn't read up properly!).

In summary - great tour, great guide, excellent use of time and value for money.

“Excellent tour of Tokyo by bike”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We only had a few hours for a bike tour on the penultimate day of our short trip to Tokyo and so we were happy that Akio was able to put together a 3 hour mini tour for the two of us.

An excellent way to see Tokyo, cycling through interesting residential back streets and on the pavements. You really do get a different perspective on the Tokyo sights and also way of life.

In our shortened tour, starting and ending in Shinjuku amongst the skyscrapers, we saw Senso-ji (where we were lucky enough to see a Shinto wedding ceremony start), Aoyama Cemetery and the Imperial Palace with some little stops in between where Akio gave us some interesting information and insights (such as the "sports area" of Meiji Jingu Gaien and the avenue of gingko trees).

It was a shame that we couldn't do the full tour but we just didn't have time!

All in all I would highly recommend Akio's tour - we had a really good time and were glad that at the last minute we decided to get in touch with him.

“Excellent Tour of Tokyo by Bike”

This is a great way to see Tokyo with a great tour guide (Akio). It started with very precise subway directions from Akio from my hotel to Shinjuku where the tour starts. The 6 hour tour includes many great sights both historic and modern. The pace is great (about 20 minutes riding between each stop with time to wander around). It was a very hot day, but we took water breaks and I felt great all the way. Seeing the sights is great, but it is even better when Akio explains their history. I also learned a lot about Japanese life. The bike ride is mostly on amazing little alleyways off of the major streets. In busier areas you ride on the sidewalks. Akio is very safety minded and ensures you are keeping up. At the end of the tour, Akio gave some great advice on other sights to see after (including the free Metropolitan Observatory on the 45th floor nearby). Thanks Akio for a great day!

“What an amazing day!”

This is a fantastic tour and such a brilliant way to see the city

It covers some of the best tourist sites in Tokyo as well as an array of great local areas that you would never come across without the benefit of a local guide. The ride is very well planned with lots of stops, very few hills and spaced out really well to provide lots of changes to rest and take in the attractions. Our guide had great knowledge of the history of each area and spoke very fluent English

I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique Tokyo experience

Two thumbs up!
