Hotel Sunlite Shinjuku
Ranked #36 of 83 Hotels / Ryokan in Shinjuku
Reviewed February 17, 2011

This hotel is truly value for money; located just 10 minutes away from Shinjuku Station (by taking the short cut through the temple) its super convenient. There are ample of shopping malls nearby (Isetan, IOIO etc) and convenience stalls as well. Kabukicho is just a mere 5 minutes walk (you can find loads of restaurants and stalls).
Do not worry even if you arrive late at midnight, the area is brightly lit and there are many people walking with you.

The hotel is very clean, although rooms and toilet might be a bit small. But its worth the price that you are paying. The breakfast is good, but should enjoy more variety. The staff are friendly and willing to help. It is located at a quiet street in Shinjuku so you can enjoy your rest...

I found this hotel by accident. What a find. The staff is extremely helpfull and the price was excellent. I think I paid about $75 a night booked online. It is in an excellent location in one of the most expensive cities on earth. The room is clean, small, but for one who really only sleeps here it is perfect. Across the road is the largest red light district in Tokyo, makes for fun evening walks. Easy access to the JR train station. May be the best value in Tokyo.

The time in the Hotel was nice. It is located about 15 minutes walking to JR Shinjuku station and 5-7 minutes to subway lines. All Shinjuku’s attractions are within walking distance.
The rooms are very simple, but clean comfortable. There are TV, shower with toilet, air condition, fridge , kettle, cups and complimentary green tea.
The beds are comfortable. Free WiFi was available in the reception area and LAN in the room. The staff is very helpful and friendly and most speak enough english.

3 min walk from the E1 exit of the underground (either 13 min walk from Shinjuku JR stn of 5 min walk from Shinjuku Sachome metro stn). lawsons just 1 min walk away.

good clean rooms, free use of washing machines(although it take 3.5 hrs to wash n dry)
Complimentary green tea in room.

Room size just enough to open 2 regular sized luggages.Good small and functional sized bathroom. Not recommended for large sized people.

I got about 50% off on pyotravel.com, so that makes it good value for money. Not otherwise

My one complaint is that they switch on the central heating as of 01 november and it was so stuffy. The weather outside was more than 19 deg C. Only solution they offered was to open the windows. Good thing we were on the 10th floor, otherwise the traffic noise would have kept us awake

My boyfriend and I stayed here and couldn't disagree with how central this hotel is! It was in the middle of the action, bars, food, arcades and more. There was so much to do and the subway was only a ten minute walk, which would lead you to various subway lines, such lines as the JR Yamanote line, the main line to get around the main spots in Tokyo. Kubukicho was very close to the hotel and right across the road is Hanazono-Jinja, fantastic places to check out!
There are many convenience stores nearby (Family Mart, Lawsons and 7/11), excellent if you want to pick up provisions for your travels and any evening snacks.

The room was cosy, pretty average size for a Japanese hotel room (If you are used to U.S. sized hotels, be warned, you may find it a bit cramped) but we found it great for day-to-day waking up and sleeping. The bed was comfy, but you may want to ask for another pillow at reception, the staff will bring up another pillow with room cleaning services.
There is a kettle, cups and green tea provided which is always a bonus! A fridge is provided, great for those who like to eat breakfast in the room and excellent for keeping late night snacks in.
The bathroom was once again a little "cosy", but the shower was excellent and they even provided free shampoo, shower gel and conditioner. There are also shaving equipment, toothbrush, shower cap and cotton buds provided.
The bath was very deep (Some may find it a bit short), great for a long soak after walking around Tokyo all day.

Reception staff were very welcoming and very happy to help out with any questions we had. They offer a free laundry service (Including washing power!) and will even post your postcards for you, with no extra charge (except the stamps). If you need a taxi, they will get one for you.

The only fault I must mention is that the hotel does allow smoking (My boyfriend and I did not smoke), so you may find that there is a slight smell of cigarette smoke when you probably first enter the room, from previous visitors.

This hotel is certainly fantastic for anyone on a budget, I definitely recommend it to all!

Great value for money if you want to stay very close to the lights and attractions of Shinjuku. All attractions are within walking distance, and so are metro and train stations. Rooms are small, but clean and unexpensive. If one finds a good rate, it's worth.

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a long trip to Japan. I chose this hotel because of its location. It located just a couple of mins walk to the south exit of Shinjuku Station which is ideal for getting about the city but also around Shinjuku itself. The rooms were better than other business hotels we stayed in, but still typically small like most hotel rooms in Japan. The hotel also provides free internet access for guests too. The staff were nice too and most speak enough english.
