Shinjuku Washington Hotel Main

It was a nice hotel, quite big, with friendly staff. We got upgraded to a triple room as they didn't have any twin rooms on the women's floor. The only problems with the hotel is that the room was quite hot, and it is quite a distance from the station. It does have the Limousine Bus from the airport at the front door, which is a definite bonus if you are using it.

The first thing I said to myself when I got into the room was WOW !! Yup the room was pretty small but then again I wasn't there for the room so it's pretty Ok I guess for the price I pay. There are plenty of international chain hotel around for double or triple the price. I do find the mattress pretty hard. Overall service provided by the hotel was good. Oh yeah one more thing...travel light coz room would be pretty tight for a few light suitcase.
Hotel's pretty close to everything like shopping, food & nightlife.

The plus is that this hotel is in a great location with views of the high rise area close the the station. The negative; windows so small you feel like you are in a prison cell, smoking room even if you booked non smoking, dated decor, filthy bathroom and finally hair in the bed! Disgusting, thank God we only stayed one night!

As in Japanese hotels, the rooms here are fairly small on average, but unless you came with copious amounts of baggage, this shouldn't really be a problem. Between the two of us, we had three suitcases and four carry-ons, and we were able to fit without too much trouble. The bathroom is unmercifully small as well, so if you plan on staying for an extended period of time, this may get a little tiresome. I don't think it bothered us all that much, though.

The location isn't bad. It's in a pretty quiet part of Shinjuku, with a nearby park, and it's within reasonable walking distance to Shinjuku Station and various other places to shop. It isn't SUPER close, though, so if you're not a fan of walks, this might be a problem.

Overall, the place is pretty basic. The service, amenities, and overall look of the room are all fine but not exceptional. It'll do if you plan on booking for a week or so, but an extended stay might leave you feeling claustrophobic. It was neither cushy nor uncomfortable; it's workable. It's very quiet and very clean, and there was nothing about the experience that I really disliked.

The restaurants are pretty good as well. Although, as long as you're in Shinjuku, you may as well go out and find someplace to eat.

The Shinjuku Washington Hotel is conveniently located in central Tokyo. It is
easily accessible from Narita International Airport via the airport limousine
bus (3,000 yen) and within walking distance to Shinjuku (train) station
(perhaps around 8 minutes or 5-6 US city blocks).

Between Shinjuku station and the hotel, there are restaurants of all types and
the area around Shinjuku station has an even higher concentration of
restarants and shopping centers.

Shinjuku is the "Manhattan" of Japan when it comes to high-rise buildings.
The architectural design of these buildings is phenomenal. From the
Washington Hotel, you're within walking distance to a lot of really cool
places.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, though very small by US standards.
Envision the smallest hotel room you've ever seen in the US -- than half it.
This is the size you'll get at this hotel.

The staff was warm and friendly, though always busy. The hotel is popular, so
be patient if you find yourself standing in line. (It moves quickly.) The
hotel has a wonderful breakfast buffet (several to choose from, actually) and
both Japanese and western food is available.

If you don't mind a small room and a little walking (which you're going to do
anyway no matter where you stay in Tokyo), the value for the hotel rate is
excellent, even at today's (weak US$) exchange rate.

The room is so small, as usual Tokyo hotel. The bathroom is small, but ok. with all minimum accessories.. The location is also fine.. directly connect with the underground paths to the Shinjuku subway. My complain is on the breakfast service...The line was so long, and so slow to serve until I had to skip to avoid missing the train...

As is usual with Japanese hotels the 'double' room I stayed in had space for a small double bed but not much else. If you wanted to open a suitcase there wouldn't have been room for it on the floor. The TV is all in Japanese so no concessions to tourists who don't speak Japanese. The staff are fairly friendly and helpful and there is a choice of two restaurants for breakfast, a cafe which serves toast, jam and coffee for about $10 and the full Japanese/American breakfast on the top floor for about $15. The location isn't bad if you don't mind a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku Station or it's about $7 by taxi if you have lots of bags. I won't be rushing back but it wasn't too bad either and the price is quite reasonable by Tokyo standards.
