Shinjuku Washington Hotel Main
Ranked #18 of 87 Hotels / Ryokan in Shinjuku

First of all, I still have to give this hotel an average rating because it is a nice one despite of the uncomfortable sleep during our stay.

Since it was already winter, the whole hotel did not have aircondition, it was on heater if you switched it on. If you have been walking around for the whole day, the last thing you want is a hot room, even if the heater is not on. There's not much air circulating so we felt stifled. We were at the point of buying a small electric fan just to cool the room. The cold weather outside did nothing to cool the room.

Another uncomfortable thing during our stay was the pillow. Why the pillows? Well, who fills up a pillow with plastic pellets as fillings? So, lying in bed with a plastic pellets filled pillow on your head in a very hot room was the most uncomfortable stay ever. We didn't request nor enquire as we were all just tired after a long day of gallivanting.

Another one, the room reeks of cigarette. Unfortunately, when I booked, I mistakenly booked a smoking room and it was too late to change it to non-smoking as the hotel was getting full. I requested a non-smoking room though in my remarks just in case. Good thing about that was the presence of a deodorizer spray in the room. It helped a bit in removing the cigarette scent all over.

Despite all the inconveniences, we still find the hotel ok in terms of price (booked via Hotels.com) for a triple bedroom, location (connected to Shinjuku train station from the basement), proximity to eateries and major department stores, cleanliness, big rooms for a Japanese standard, well-stocked bathroom everyday during our stay, convenient store located at the First Floor if in case you needed water or food, accessible airport limousine pick up area and the friendly staff who were all courteous and accommodating of our requests. They also spoke good English.

We were given a triple bedroom on the 22nd floor so we had a very good view of the nearby areas.

I will recommend this NOT during winter because of the lack of cool air conditioning but perhaps, some other season when they will actually switch the cool air conditioning on.

Room Tip: choose higher rooms for a good view of the nearby areas, request replacement of those plastic pellet...

We had a great stay at this hotel.. It is centrally located with close to market and the railway station.. The shinjuku station is just a 10 min walk.. The room was slightly small in size but the service was excellent ... Will definitely stay here again

The key feature of the hotel is its location, although it's still a bit of a walk from Shinjuku Station (which is enormous!) Based on suggestions from other reviewers, booked 3 rooms at the Annex. The rooms are a bit hit/miss (as evidenced by reading thru the reviews). Good: the rooms were clean, and price was right (40% off for advanced booking). Bad: can't control air conditioning/heat in the room. Among the 3 rooms we had, 1 was like a sauna, 1 was warm-to-hot and only 1 was at the right temperature. One of the bathrooms smelled a bit funny. Wireless signal depends on where room is located (better on 1 side of building than other). It's OK for 1 night stay but recommend shop around to see if there are comparably priced hotel that are better rated.

Room Tip: If you're staying at the Annex, check in there, not at the main building!

A huge apartment building houses this fair hotel in a great area in Tokyo.
My room was tiny, I imagine there are diferent room sizes in the same venue, but neat and clean as only japanese places can be.
The rate was not great, but ok for europen standards.
Room insulation was somewhat poor, as I noticed some noises could be heard from other rooms during daily hours, although at night everything was quiet.

There is two building for the hotel, ie. Main Tower and Annex, which is located exactly behind the main building 2mins walk away from the main building (follow their indication sticks in main building). Clean and comfort room, completed with toiletries. I spent 9D8N at 7th floor, just not satisfied with their unstable wifi.
The hotel is 15-20mins far from Shinjuku Station South exit thru UNDERGROUND LINKED WALKWAY to the hotel basement, 6-8mins to TMGB & 10-12mins from Tochomae Station. If weather & time allowed to do so, walk thru the ground, so you know there is variety choice of dining, shopping and sight seeing to go.

Room Tip: Do not hesitate to ASK if you want to know more.

The Shinjuku Washington Hotel was very good, good location, good restaurants and great rooms except for one thing.....the elevators! Even though there was six of them, because of how many people were staying at the hotel it was horrendous, it made us run late for one of our tours because we were stuck for ten minutes!
Eventually there were fifteen people waiting and we all decided to use the service elevator (do not recommend) but we were desperate.

Cons: free WiFi, Family Mart down stairs, quiet.

Pros: small room, small bathroom (I booked a triple room, can't imagine what a single room would be like...), can not control temperature in room, so it's either too hot or too cold. Room was kinda old (Main Building), not exactly very close to Shinjuku station, about 10 min walk.
