“An Amazing Value in Tokyo and in a Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2011

I stayed in this property for business and was kindly upgraded to an Atrium suite. These suites have a veranda type patio that overlook the Atrium of the hotel and don't offer much natural light, but are super nice, comfortable and spacious so I was happy. The hotel has other suite types that offer more light, but they aren't designed as contemporary as the Atrium suites. Equally this property doesn't traditionally upgrade to suites for elite members so something to be aware. As for the suite itself, all if not most suites at this property come with a two double bed configuration. They don't really have any with king beds. The design of the hotel is more traditional but the design of this suite was Asian Contemporary. It had a free standing Roman bath tub. A shower room, individual toilet room, two vanities with plenty of toiletries(good ones), and a hidden room/door with bathrobes and slippers. The living room has a desk/table, large TV, large veranda, and sofa and then a long hallway which leads to the entryway/front door. The bedroom is a good size, it has two double beds in it after all. The beds are typical Hyatt beds, so very comfortable and each area of the suite had different climate controls. The toilets are typical Japanese bidet type toilets that do all sort of fancy things. Same as what you would find at the Park Hyatt. The rooms are designed with this wood paneling everywhere which cleverly disguises everything. So walls become doors, doors become walls..it's all really cool. It has large closets but as typical in Asia, no iron or ironing board(you have to ask for that). The hotel itself is in one of the best neighborhoods in Tokyo. They have a free shuttle that runs every 15 mins to Shinjuku station which is really the hub an anchor of the neighborhood. Tons of shopping, restaurants, and things to do. The hotel has a great pastry shop and four individual restaurants. I would recommend the buffet at the Cafe restaurant. It's 3,000 JPY and is a bargain for the area and the city with a great selection. With my suite I had access to the concierge lounge. The lounge is typical, nothing fancy and had standard food options. I'm not a big fan of the breakfasts in these lounges as they don't traditionally include hot items and are very minimalist. However at this property I found their fruit selection to be to my liking and was able to eat healthy and still become full. I experienced two small earthquakes while I was there. So something to keep in mind if you plan to visit. The hotel is on rollers so when one hits the building sways for a while, which makes it a bit difficult for those unfamiliar with earthquakes to really gauge how serious a tremor it may be. Overall, I would highly recommend this property. The suite was similar to those you would find at the much more expensive Park Hyatt down the street and overall it's basically the same experience but at a lower price point. So this property is definitely a great value. They are still renovating rooms so they do have some rooms in the more modern style and then others that are really traditional and dated. Ask for one of the refurbished rooms if you can, you will be happier.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room, otherwise they will probably give you one of the traditional style rooms

Huge hotel in the heart of Shinjuku ward. Normal king room are correct by a little below Hyatt quality. Service, as usual in Japan, is very good. People go out of their way to make sure you are happy and well served. Internet connection in room is wired and the hotel doesn't seem to have any Wifi. All in all, a very decent hotel, but a little expensive for what is offered.

I think this is my first stay since the March earthquake, and although there are changes in Tokyo the Hyatt seems to be about the same.
I think they control the air conditioning more conservatively, but the stay was fine.
In particular, I wanted to highlight the comfortable room, the internet included and the very good breakfast (often not included).
Staff remains top notch. Great place for business and meeting other business people.
I am always happy with my comfortable stay and great sleep....assuming I can tolerate the price.

The hotel is ideally located in the Shinjuku business district next to the famous Tokyo City Hall building. It is a quite modern tower which offers views from each floors.
The hotel is the 2nd stop for one of the airport limousine bus line, offering easy, fast and quite direct access for both Narita (1h30 on a Saturday afternoon) and Haneda airport (30 mns on a Friday evening) with the current situation (cuts in train frequences).
The room was quite large but the bathroom was disappointing (size, equipment).
We had a late supper at the Caffé restaurant and the food was amazing. I would recommend their scallops in the plancha section. The service was very good.
For Hyatt members, morning refreshments (coffee, tea and pastries) are offered.
I had a pleasant stay in this hotel and would recommend it due the acceptable size of the room.

We enjoyed watching 4 wedding ceremonies in the atrium during one evening. Its basically a western style hotel but has Asian elements in place, beauty, calm and efficiency.

In the past I had stayed very nice stays in Hilton Tokyo, a hotel next door. As the prices are similar, decided this time to try out their Club floor room. When comparing that the prices are somewhat similar, in general it did not managed to take the lead over the neighbour.

The room was a bit smallish, like many in Japan, with a view to Shinjuku park. It was functional, but nothing special. Also the club lounge happy hour had quite a limited selection on offer, and well.. the same was for breakfast.

The poolside area was also more of a 3* range.

All in all, I kind of expected more for the price paid.

Oh, and in the club lounge wifi had some issues as well...

I've stayed here on numerous occasions, it's good value for Tokyo and on our company list. The standard rooms are very small, bathrooms are functional but a shower cubicle with a decent rain shower would be a much better option than the current bath with cheap shower curtain. Electronics and entertainment systems need an upgrade. My biggest issue is that the walls are paper thin and if your neighbor has the TV on you get to listen to that all night, I've had the problem on more than one occasion.

For a small additional fee go for a corner room. They are much bigger and the room configuration means your neighboyrs TV is not against the adjoining wall. Slightly fussy I know but the whole concept of a hotel is to be able to sleep.

Staff are great and no request is too much trouble, as you would expect from Hyatt.
