“Very convenient for working in Tokyo”
Reviewed August 10, 2014

This was my first visit to Tokyo. The location was perfect for both for walking around and getting to other parts of Tokyo for business.

The room was comfortable and the bathroom was amusing for the heated, self-cleaning facilities. I had no issues with the WiFI.

The two things I enjoyed most were the breakfast area, where I had a great 3 hour breakfast meeting in comfortable surroundings, and the wide variety of restaurants in the hotel. While there are number of good restaurants in the area, I particularly enjoyed the Kagari restaurant. It introduced me to a number of dishes I had not seen in the SF Bay Area at any of the local Japanese restaurants.

Room Tip: Get a view to the east to enjoy the sunrise

Thank you for staying at the Keio Plaza Hotel during your business trip to Tokyo.

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our location, room, and restaurants, especially Kagari.
Kagari serves a traditional Japanese breakfast which is quite different from what our overseas guests might expect as popular Japanese cuisine. Also, one can enjoy Kagari's lunch and dinner, often featuring regional flavours of Japan.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Excellent location within 5-6 minutes of Shinjuku Station, giving you ready access to everything Tokyo has to offer with buzzing nightlife right there.

Hotel building is large, probably built in the 1980's with functional public areas - though not particularly memorable. Feels a bit impersonal (but that is after staying at Hotel Okura, so may not be a fair comparison).

Stayed in a Superior renovated room on the 31st floor. Room is large and very comfortable.

We booked a package that included breakfast which was served in the lounge just off the lobby. Breakfast was "western" style and very good.

I would absolutely stay here again when in the Tokyo area.

Thank you for sharing your review about your recent stay at the Keio Plaza Hotel.

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our room and breakfast at the Cocktail & Tea Lounge. We have three restaurants on the 2nd floor that serve breakfast, but the Cocktail & Tea Lounge is open only for our hotel members and designated guests. We hope you had a relaxing morning there.

Regarding the Keio Plaza Hotel, we were the first skyscraper hotel built in Japan in 1971. Since then, we have been hosting as a "plaza" that welcomes guests from all over the world. At the same time, we have been striving for improvements in accordance with the guests' needs, which we feel is an eternal journey for us.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back at Keio Plaza on your next visit to Tokyo.

I stayed at the Keio Plaza Hotel for a total of 5 nights in July.My only complaint would be that for an international hotel very little English is understood even booking in one resorts to charades and pointing at pictures and maps. The standard below average. My one saving grace was a bellboy Oshiro who had studied in USA for 2 years so had some command of the English language. If staff cannot communicate at least have an interpreture that can.
I was booked into a standard single room and one could not complain more than enough room with a double bed in fact I was on the 24 th floor of the Main Tower and looked over the Govt Offices over the road.I had requested a non smoking room but was given a smoking room but could not detect smoke so stayed in that room.
On my return visit of 1 night I was given a non smoking room on the 19th floor of the Main Tower and overlooked the pool.
For travellers just be aware of the Accomodation Tax which is paid on departure from the hotel It is calculated on a scale of Hotel Room Charge (per person per night) less than Y1000 free,Y10000 - 14999 Tax Y100 and Y15000 and over tax Y200per night I was unaware of this and paid Y900 on departure and my fellower travellers for what ever reason did not have to pay !!!! go figure.I thought that I had checked every thing out but missed this little detail and my travel agent did not inform me either .The tax is collected so as to cover expenses for tourism promotion.
My room on both occasions was excellant the bathroom great and well appointed with toiletries as well as disposable slippers. If you look in the draw you will find a Kimono I am not sure of the cost to purchase but one can have fun playing dress ups.

Thank you for taking a few moments of your time to review your stay with us at the Keio Plaza Hotel.

We are very sorry to hear that you had a hard time communicating with our staff. We are constantly working on improving the language skills of our hotel personnel, however not all staff has a good command of English. At the same time, we do have English speaking staff at the Guest Relations Desk. On a future visit, we would appreciate your stopping by the Desk for any kind of assistance or inquiries. .

Aside from the language issue, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our rooms and amenities.

We hope to make your next stay with us better, and look forward to welcoming you back sometime soon.

I was very Disappointed when i arrived to my room.
It was very old, and had bad smell.
It had Lame bathroom and shower, bad bed, and the WIFI was very slow.

The location is great but there are many other better hotels in this area.
Not worth the price.

Thank you for taking the time to offer us your feedback.

We are very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations in regard to the room. We assume that the room assigned you was one of the remaining rooms in the hotel that have not gone through our recent refurbishment program. In fact, we have a mix of renovated and non-renovated rooms at the moment.

If we have the opportunity to host you again, we would recommend one of our renovated room types to ensure your preference and satisfaction.

We hope you will allow us the chance to win you over on a future visit.

We had the superior renovated room with 3 single beds. Our room was on the 28th floor and faces the Tokyo Metropolitan Building. Free viewing gallery is on the 45th floor, go there at night will see the night scenes of Tokyo. It closes at 10.30pm, we managed to go up there on our last night. There's a direct pass from the hotel to go over, just ask the concierge to show you.

Location is great, if you walk above the ground, it will takes you about 8 mins to the world's busiest station - Shinjuku. Get out of the station using the WEST exit. Mind you, Shinjuku is huge, depending on which subway line you take, you could end up exiting at different exit at the WEST exit each time.
Luckily Keio Plaza is opposite Tokyo Metropolitan Building, so looking for the signboard that says "Tokyo Metropolitan" helps tremedously. There is an underpass linking the hotel to the Shinjuku station, we managed to use that 1 of the day, but subsequently, we didn't manage to locate this exit. But walking above the ground is better, shorter and able to enjoy the sights and the many skyscrappers in that area.

The staff were very helpful and give very good advices on how to go to the places of interest.

The best thing about this hotel is that they are 1 of the Good Neighbour of Disneyland, so there's a free shuttle that brings you to the resort. However, there's only 3 timing and you have to make reservation in advance. If you can, write to the hotel and make your reservation for the Disney shuttle. Having the shuttle to send us back from Disney Resort to the hotel is so good, especially after a long and fun day, just need to wait at the bus stop for the shuttle bus. Otherwise, you have to make your own way back, having to hop on the subway and transfer to different lines .

There were 3 of us in the room, and we were so impressed and touched when we saw that the housemaid left 3 different colour tooth brush each day ! It is these action that make this hotel special. We really can't fault the Japanese, the service is first class.

The airport limo calls at the hotel and there's a convenience store within the hotel. What more can you ask.

Overall, we are very happy with our stay. We will be back at this hotel again, I'm very sure.

Room Tip: High floor with better view.

Thank you for sharing your reiview about your stay at the Keio Plaza Hotel.

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our location, room, and services. And, it is our pleasure to have supported your memorable time while in Tokyo.

Regarding the shuttle bus to the Tokyo Disney Resort, this service is very popular among our leisure guests. This is why we highly recommend making a reservation in advance of the guest arrival. Reservations are accepted in advance from 9:00 a.m. (local time) on the first day of the month prior to usage.

Also, thank you for endorsing our house keeping staff. We will definitely pass on your kind comments to the team.

We look forward to welcoming you back, hopefully in the near future!

Location in shinjuku is fantastic. Only 10 mins walk to the station, and en route you have plenty of shops to view.

Hotel is rather older - but is under renovation i think. Room size is very good. Bed is comfortable and for the price, i'd say fantastic.
The breakfast in the hotel comes in 3 styles in 3 different restaurants for our choice - japanese, continental and cafe style. Worth the money.

I stayed at Keio Plaza, Shinjuku from 24th to 28th July. I was really impressed by the comfort of the room and the service provided by the staff. The room came with everything you can think of to make it a home away from home. The appearance, view, bedding, linen, lighting, amenities, toileteries, slippers, bath robes, kimonos, etc. etc. etc were all of very good quality and standard. Toilet seats were heated to exact body temperature! The staff were extremely friendly and spoke English very well. Only thing I missed was the English Breakfast Tea. But the 'Roasted Tea' provided compensated well. As many reviews before this said the location of the hotel makes it a great place in terms of accessability to public transport services too. I will stay there when I visit Tokyo next time. And I can recommend it to anyone who is looking for luxury at affordable prices.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer a spectacular view of Tokyo skyline

Thank you for the great feedback offered during your recent stay with us!

We were so thrilled to read your comments and glad to hear that you enjoyed our room and friendly services, and location.

From reading your review, we assume that your room was one of our Plaza Premier or Plaza Luxe types. Both room categories are designed to offer a tranquil time, yet have different characteristics: one with a neutral/tender interior, and one with a stately interior.

Regarding the absence of an English Breakfast Tea, we appreciate your understanding. In order to further improve on our services, we will surely consider your suggestion.

We hope to welcome you back in the near future!
