Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo

We stayed at Keio Plaza in Shinjuku for several nights on a recent trip for our family of four with two elementary school age children. It was overall a great experience and an enjoyable hotel. It is centrally located, right near the station in Shinjuku, so it is easy to get around the city. They also have a special shuttle bus that takes you right to Disney Land and Disney Sea. There are a number of shops and restaurants in walking distance of the hotel. They also have several great restaurants right in the hotel. The room was clean, spacious and perfect for us. The service was very good. It is a larger hotel, so a bit impersonal, but still very good. Our only real complaint is that the breakfast is quite expensive (although really great for both adults and kids) unless you have a special ticket, so we recommend in the future that you negotiate to have breakfast included in your stay.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a non-smoking room and you get a "triple room" that will actually accom...

This is a very huge hotel building, can be quite confusing. We stayed in the newly revonated Plaza Biz Plus Main twr with Free WIFI in room. There was NO free mineral water but there were supermarkets nearby. There is a sheltered walkway from hotel directly to Shinjuku station (the long is very very long). Shinjuku Station is huge and we found it easier to navigate above ground rather than underground, especially with the stroller/luggage. Hotel is near the Tokyo Govt Building, cheap to have lunch there.

This hotel is in a great location. It is close to the train stations and near a lot of significant buildings in the city. A lot of shops are nearby and the restaurants located in the hotel made it easy to grab breakfast before sightseeing or a late dinner afterwards.
We were in the older tower but the rooms were still really nice. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. I noticed that the beds did not reek of bleach like in some hotels here in the states. It made for a very restful night.
The small market in the hotel also was great for buying water and snacks. The hotel provided a lot of amenities and the staff were so helpful and nice. They offer a free shuttle to Disney and Disney Sea which was convenient. You just have to be sure to make a reservation as seats fill up quickly.

Very nice and clean hotel and very conveniently located. Very helpful staff and the presence of a variety of restaurants on site meant I had good dinner choices after a full day's work. The hotel restaurants are a bit on the pricey side but during check in the hotel gives a number of discount coupons that can be used. Right across the hotel is also the Shinjuku downtown area with a lot of entertainment and dining options.
Only drawback is lack of wi-fi in the lobbies and public spaces, so you cannot get online outside of your room. there is a business lounge on the 34th floor of the south tower with internet connection.

You could probably do better than this hotel in Tokyo, but you also could probably do much worse. The Keio Plaza is old and could use some sprucing up, but the rooms are big enough, everything is clean, it has all the amenities one would expect of a reputable hotel, and is centrally located. There are shops and restaurants all around, and the subway station is 2 blocks away. Stayed here for the annual Tokyo Marathon and it was perfect as the starting line was 5 mins away on foot.

Room Tip: This is one of the few hotels that still offer triple and quad sharing. So if you're a family or...

I was surprised when I arrived to check-in at Keio Plaza, because the queue at front desk looked like an airport check-in! There were at least 10-12 people ahead of me. Luckily I was asked to check-in at a separate counter and within minutes was given my key.

I booked a renovated club level room, thinking that it would include the typical breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails bit. It turned out that the lounge is only open after 10AM (no breakfast fare). Access to club is by showing coupons given at check in.

The wifi speed is very good at times, but not very consistent. Toiletries are nicely scented and the heated toilet is a nice touch!

After exiting customs check in Haneda, approach the airport limousine transfer counter in the departure hall's waiting area. It's located to the left. There you can opt for the bus that stops at the Keio Plaza. Be warned though - with the route that it takes means that it will be about an hour before you reach Keio plaza, if you don't run into traffic. If you choose to take a train, be warned! Shinjuku station is huge, if you don't know the most direct and convenient way to the Keio you will be lugging your luggage all over the place before you get there, and it can be quite a pain!

My friend and I took the refurbished room in the old tower. It was well appointed and large for a room in Japan. Two queen sized beds, with lots of space to move around. My room faced the metropolitan government offices so it was quiet and had a nice view of the park. There's a convenience store in the basement and several others around the area if you need supplies or cheap food stuff.

The Keio also has a fine teppanyaki restaurant which I tried. I opted for the one with nice serving of Kobe wagyu beef. The meal was excellent and service was impeccable.
