“Great location in Shinjuku”
Reviewed July 16, 2012 via mobile

My favorite place to stay in Western Tokyo. Great location, a few mins walk from the Shinjuku station (West exit); very easy to find. Quick taxi ride from Roppongi/NishiAzabu at night.

Clean rooms, a bit small unless you get a Junior Suite, good views of the Shinjuku skyline.

We took the Narita Express and got off at Shinjuku station. Although the walk from Shinjuku station to Keio plaza hotel was only about 10 minutes, it was extremely difficult in the evening rush hour; with heavy luggages and under the summer heat. Thus, the airport bus may be a more comfortable option. However, with Narita express, you get a free Yen1500 Suica card which is really handy. Thus, the call is yours.

We booked two rooms for two nights and was upgraded to a Premier room in the main tower. The rooms were spacious, tidy and well maintained. Within 10-15 minutes walk from the Keio Plaza hotel, there are so many choices of ramen, japanese grilled meat all-you-can-eat buffet and seafood tempura. Of coure, the beautiful strawberry sponge cakes in the basement level of the supermarket are not to be missed.

Stayed there for more than a week on a high floor(above 30 floors) in the south tower. Had a good view of the entire area. It is just at the edge of the shopping area so it's quiet yet with a short walk, you'd reach the shops. But it is NOT in the centre of things. Everything else was good, comfortable beds too. Direct bus limos to and fro airports and hotel. Concierge was very helpful. Great hotel.

Stayed with a friend who had a very good rate as he was an airline staff. As such I will focus on non value aspects.

Within walking distance of Shinjuku JR station and kabuchiko, it was a good base to travel around tokyo. The airport bus brings you straight to the hotel; you are entitled to a free bus shuttle to disneyland; and most 3rd party tours offer the hotel as a pickup point.

Room was small for such a good hotel but was expected for Japan. Staff were helpful but the command of English was patchy (but expected). Bathroom was well equipped and the hotel had gym and swimming facilities.

Overall, you get what you pay for for thia hotel. definitely for busineaa travellers or thoae who managed to get a good room rate.

The Keio Plaza has an ideal location to explore not only Shinjuku but Tokyo in general. It's a modern and pretty hotel, with big rooms to japanese standards. The room is spacious and modern, has a Nespresso coffee machine and complimentary coffee capsules. The bathroom has Shiseido toiletries and japanese bath robes.
In the hotel basement there's many restaurant options and a good bakery, where you can buy bread/pastries to eat your breakfast in the room with the nespresso coffee if you don't want to look for a cafe.
The hotel is just 5 min walk from the Shinjuku train station and close to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government office building. It's worth a visit to one of its towers, where you can climb to the 45th floor for a spectacular view of the city. And it's free!
This is a good place to experience Shinjuku and its neon lights, high skyscrapers, shops and restaurants. Talking about restaurants, you should try the ramen. There's LOTS of restaurants in the area.

My wife and I visited Tokyo on holiday for 6 nights and wanted to find a hotel that was:

* In central location for easy transportation to various parts of Tokyo
* In location where there are many food options (local Japanese food especially)
* Has relatively acceptable / nice rooms that did not have many complains on (i) smoke smell and (ii) air condition
* Pay less then 2,000 Yen all-in

After looking for days on Expedia and friends, we decided on the Keio and chose the Plaza BIZ room. For what we paid (~1,700 Yen all-in), we thought it was a great option and exceeded our expectations.

Location was great for us (for our purposes) and we loved walking around to various parts of Shinjuku to explore - in addition to very easily hopping on different subway lines from Shinjuku station to go to different areas of Tokyo. Restaurants around the area were local and not that expensive (for Japanese benchmarks).

Room - small for U.S. sizes (~25 sq meters?) but decent for Japanese sizes. Fit 2 adults just fine. King size bed, comfortable bedding, quite clean and has all the basics. Overall, I think I would compare the room to a U.S. Sheraton (not the very new fancy renovated ones, but what you would find in the mid-2000s typically). Only gripe is that the wifi is amazingly slow, but it is what it is.

Service / Staff - very good, no issues here. Most spoke [broken] English but enough to communicate the basics such as recommendations, directions, etc. The daytime concierge desk was particularly helpful. At night the staff is different so they're not truly concierge staff.

Location - in addition to blurb above, this hotel was also very easily accessible via the Airport Limosine (bus). The bus pulled up directly into the driveway for both drop off and pick-up. At 3,000 Yen per person, it was very efficient.

In summary, there's a pretty good chance we'll stay here again when we visit next. There's a relatively newly renovated Sunroute on the Shinjuku South side which looked pretty decent and can save a couple more $$. We originally considered splurging and staying at the Ritz Carlton or Peninsula but in hindsight, we would choose Keio if we did it all over again.

Worth adding to your shortlist!

Room Tip: (If matters to you), get a room type that is ONLY non-smoking (instead of other room categories that...

Convenient location and spacious. High occupancy when I stayed there and the lobby was very crowded, great service by hotel staff - courteous and most welcoming.
