Among the regular patrons of this small restaurant near Waseda University, it is the common belief that if this no-nonsense establishment were in Ginza or Omotesando, they could triple the prices and still do great business. The double-deck bento served with miso soup has an assortment of 15 or so bites of traditional Japanese cuisine that could appear on a ryotei menu. Their grilled fish (changed daily), fish boiled in sweetened soy sauce (nizakana), tofu and pork (nikudofu), and sashimi lunches make an unbeatable rotation. For less than 1,000 yen you can enjoy really excellent food. Lunch service only.
