“Fantastic tempura!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Our family of four really enjoyed our tempura meal at this Shinjuku restaurant. There were English menus and whilst there was not a lot of English spoken, communication was effective. We chose one of the set menus and did't want the eel and they happily substituted prawns. The quality of the tempura was excellent. It was light and crisp and not oily at all. The vegetables were also fantastic. It was reasonably priced and for the amount of food you got, great value. I will definitely return!

“Great Tempura in the heart of Shinjuku”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

Don't be put off by the lack of English signage and traditional looking Japanese exterior. They have an English menu and the Tempura is freshly cooked in front of you - it is surprisingly reasonably priced. Everything tasted fresh and the vegetables had very good flavour.

“Good service, worth the waiting time”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

I came here for lunch and there was a short queue outside. It wasn't too long before I was ushered inside (I was alone). Was given a seat at the counter, where the wait staff gave me an English menu immediately. You give your order to the chef behind the counter. The chefs were very kind and taught me how to eat the tempura by giving me instructions in their limited English. Really appreciated it.

The food itself was fantastic! The ingredients were fried only after you ordered, so it was very fresh. Best of all, they weren't very oily at all! Was very full at the end of the meal. I'd ordered the hiru zen (1,200yen without tax), which is what everyone at the counter had. It consisted of 5 pieces of tempura, a bowl of rice, miso, and some pickled vegetables.

“Excellent!”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

The restaurant is so humble from the outside and even when you're inside, you wouldn't think you were about to eat the tastiest tempura of your life!

My husband and I each chose a set-meal. I had the vegetarian meal and he had the regular set-meal. I believe they serve vegetables and seafood only (no chicken, beef, pork etc), but I could be wrong.

The food is just delicious - the soup and extras you get are beautiful. The tempura is cooked fresh, right in front of you and is incredible. The batter is so light and crunchy and doesn't make you feel sick because of too much oil.

I had a fantastic time here because it was such a great experience, the staff were just lovely and so kind. Excellent service, excellent food and well-priced! What more could you want?

“Nothing more than average”
Reviewed May 18, 2014

Came here based on the many rave reviews on trip advisor and found this to be one of the few places that disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the tempura wasn't BAD! It just wasn't anything to write home about either. I've had better back home at the local mom and pop sushi spots. Try somewhere else if you're in the shinjuku area.
