“Good hotel but a bit far from the action”
Reviewed June 4, 2010

Great staff, spacious rooms (esp. for Tokyo), clean and a good value. The only cons would be that I thought it was a little far from the action (restaurants, night life, shopping) and subway. But for those who like it a little quiet, this is a good hotel.

Decent-sized room. Kitchen facilities came in handy for breakfast and days we bought bento boxes back from Isetan for dinner. The 100 yen Lawson store nearby is convenient for food supplies. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed for ten nights. The hotel location is fantastic, and its rooms are modern and very clean. We did not use the kitchen facilities, but the mini fridge and the microwave oven were very useful.
The nearest metro stations are Shinjuku Gyoenmae (+/-5 mins.), and Shinjuku Sanchome (+/-10 mins.)
The main Shinjuku station is around 20 minutes. If you are travelling light, you can even walk it when coming/leaving to the airport by N`EX.

All the staff in the hotel was friendly and very proffessional.

There are several restaurants and convenience stores open 24/7 nearby.

It is an easy metro ride to Shibuya and Harajuku, and within walking distance to the shopping streets and all the restaurants and nightlife spots in Shinjuku; plus If you needed to chill out for a bit, the beautiful Shinjuku Gyoen Gardens are also just a 10 minutes walk from the Citadines.

After a month travelling around Japan, we had vey small rooms, especially in the ryokans and business hotels. We really enjoyed the whole experience. However, the last 5 days in the Citadines Tokyo Shinjuku was beyond our expectations as it was so clean and modern, we had so much space to move around, watch sky TV (in English channels, first time in a month),make our own breakfast (muesli, yoghurt and no fat milk which we found in the magnificent food hall in the Isetan department store which is waking distance). We could walk to Shinjuku station and environs, so near to all the shops and restaurants. We could do our washing in the machines and use the dryer which was convenient as April was very cold and wet. We really loved our stay here as we were able to feel at home in a beautiful modern apartment in a quiet area, yet so close to all that the modern glitzy glamour, restaurants, shops and nightlife of Shinjuku.

We stayed three nights in Citadines, Shinjuku, and for our first trip to Japan, we couldn't have picked better. This hotel is a short walk from the heart of Shinjuku and on the metro line, which easily takes you to other Tokyo hot-spots like Harajuku and Shibuya. The room has kitchenette facilities (but the Japanese food is so good, we didn't even think about using it), and the bed and lounge can be sectioned off to give that 'apartment-feel'. For us, we weren't looking for a serviced apartment, but it was a great hotel room and good value for money.

It's won the Tripadvisor 2010 award - proudly sat at reception - and rightly so. I cannot fault this hotel.
We had come from a trip around China and needed to clean our clothes (but not at hotel rip off prices!) how refreshing to find a coin-operated and reasonably priced hotel laundry room!! The staff were absolutely impeccable - they were on hand seemingly 24 hours a day and were so unbelievably helpful in any situation, with the utmost of profession.
The hotel is well presented, well maintained and very central. Shinjuku-Gyonmae was less than a 5 minute walk down a lovely road which houses a fantastic tempura/noodle bar, open until late and was the best noodles (and only 350Y) that we had. There is a Seven Eleven next door to the hotel - and they take international bank cards in their machine (be warned, the only places that accept international bank cards are 7/11, Citibank and the post office - which is on the same block as the hotel but at the back).
The room was above and beyond expectations - and the bed was so comfortable that I wanted to take it home! The sheets, linen, pillows, positioning, etc.were all good. I slept extremely well.

The room is fully equipped, as a self catering apartment, even chopsticks, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans are provided - all immaculately clean, like new. The room had a great, hi-spec feel to it, the kimono dressing gowns were replaced daily, if you wore them, and all the washing up disappears :) The TV wall unit moves between the versatile bedroom/sitting area and a fridge in the kitchen allows you to store all kinds of foods or drinks you may want. I never felt any intrusion from the cleaning staff (as I have in other places), in fact, they were like fairies, cleaning in between our visits.
I cannot give this hotel praise enough, you'd be silly to book anywhere else in Shinjuku, you really would.

I cant add much more than to say this has got to be the best place to stay in Tokyo. It doesnt have a pool and the gym does not have any weight equipment but everything else is completely first class. The roms are large (for any standard especially Asia) and very clean - bath is good size. The staff are excellent and they have a guest coin laundry which was great for us. The location is really good, plenty of food, cheap supermarkets and takeaway in the same street. It is a 20min walk from Shinjuku station or a 5min from the closest metro station (BYGS Building). You can actually walk from Shinjuku station underground and come up at the BYGS Building, but this takes some practice to know the way. TV wise they have a couple of english language cable movie channels and all importantly MTV Asia. Movies and MTV is at no extra cost. This was a brilliant base for exploring Tokyo and one of the best places I have stayed overall. For its quality it was amazing value.
