Impressed by the bed, it was really excellent. My last day I pulled off the sheets and found: Simmons. Well, I liked it better than the Simmons in my home.
Location: convenient but drove the taxi driver from Shinjuku station crazy finding it (at 710Y for a fraction of a mile). Essentially starts at the third floor of a building.
Not fancy. No bellhop or concierge.
Join the Astina Club and the price falls from standard Best Western AAA rate. Large (for Japan) room, executive twin, at under $200, including decent breakfast.
Quirks.... maid service means the linens get changed, so that happens every day unless you opt out (and get a little reward). Udon restaurant on second floor will give you any of their drinks free (one drink of course) with meal and proof of being at the hotel.
5 or so minute walk to Shinjuku station. A crazy complicated station, we kept finding new parts by accident. Finding the correct exit to get to the hotel is not so easy even after managing to do that a couple of times.
