Citadines Central Shinjuku Tokyo

Stayed here for my first four nights of a month long trip to Japan. Great place to acclimatise.

I won't repeat previous comments too much but the location is excellent. Only a 5 minute walk from the east exit of shinjuku station and fairly easy to find. Rooms are functional, very clean, up to date and compact as you expect in Tokyo. Reception very good with excellent English - my Japanese is not great. Breakfast is ok, although I ate breakfast out of the hotel after the second day as the choice is not great. A pity there is no wifi in the rooms although there are LAN cables, not great if you only have an iPad with you. So I bought a one month b-mobile data only sim card for a month for about 3400¥ from bic camera near shinjuku station. Best option to avoid extortionate roaming charges, but make sure your phone/iPad is unlocked.

Back to the hotel and vicinity. There's a lawsons convenience store right underneath open 24/7. Handy. There's lots around in shinjuku which is a cool place to stay. Geared more towards Japanese socializing unlike rappongi which is a bit more western and sordid (but fun nonetheless, although not to my taste).

Despite location, which is busy 24 hours a day, rooms are very quiet. Beds are good. Linen changed every day and great functional bathroom.

Overall I'd stay here again. Excellent value for money, great service and super location.

And I mean it, not only the best location in Harajuku and Shinjuku, but as it is minutes away from the Shinjuku station and in the heart of Tokyo's night life, it is maybe the best location of all Tokyo.
Rooms size is average for Tokyo and rooms are well organized. Do not expect view or anything fancy, but if you can get a nigh for less than 150$, this is a geat value.

Not too far from Shinjuku station. Very clean and compact. Good value for money. Only difficulty is finding the front door initially as was not aware the reception is on third level.
Convenience store on street level very handy. Close to all food places and easy walk to train and shopping.

My partner and I stayed for five nights here back in February 2012 and managed to secure a reasonable room rate with buffet breakfast included each morning. The breakfast vouchers can also be exchanged at the Lawson convenience store on the ground floor but ONLY ON THE DAY THAT THE VOUCHER IS DATED FOR! In addition, you can only redeem each voucher for 500 JPY at Lawson, but this is always an option if you don't feel like the hotel breakfast. Whilst the hotel is located in the slightly seedier part of town, it was close to food, shopping and transport and had convenient in-house facilities such as a coin laundry which made things so much easier. The standard room was well-appointed with surprisingly large bathrooms (when considering the size of the bedroom itself). Most of the reception staff were proficient in English and all were courteous, though perhaps not what western travellers would consider 'warm' or 'friendly' (a common theme in chain hotels). However I had been corresponding with Yuko and Aya in reservations prior to my stay who were extremely helpful and friendly especially as I had an important package delivered to the hotel in time for arrival. I was also pleasantly surprised that all my optional room requests had been granted. I would gladly stay again.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Upon arrival my room with 2 double beds, which I had requested in advance was not available. The hotel insisted that I pay an additional 2000 yen per night. What is one to do when they have booked the room through a booking service? The room we were finally given was actually very nice.

The hotel is in a rather "sleezy" area of Tokyo and we found the staff to be a little bit on the cold side. The internet in your room in not easily accessed. It is only free if you go down to the lobby. It is quite a hassle to get it in your room, as you have to have an email authorization using Free Spot to your cell phone. We did not have such a phone with us, so it was impossible to use the internet in our room and had to go to the lobby each time we wanted to access the internet. Quite an inconvenience and not as advertised. Upon departure, the only offer of a settlement was for the additional 2000 yen I had paid. Nothing for the full amount of the room stay. All in all, I probably would not stay here again, as there are other hotels in better areas of Tokyo.

We stayed 5 nights in Tokyo at Astina Hotel. This is a very good base for visiting the city. The hotel itself is nice. Room are quite small (this is Tokyo) and the bathroom is adequately sized. The service at the hotel is quite unpersonnal (large hotel).

We booked at room at the business level to get access to the lounge. Actually, this is not a lounge but a meeting room (one large table and 8 seats). Nothing fun to relax. The business level is not a good deal but for the quietness.

Stayed here for 6 nights in August. Stayed in a standard room with my partner - room was fairly small (which wasn't surprising given it's Tokyo!). Even though the room was small (ish), it was very well decked out with bed, desk, small sofa and a really nice bathroom. Everything was immaculately clean and modern. Very impressive. The bed was so comfy, slept so well! The buffet breakfast was good (mix of western and eastern foods). The hotel is in Shinjuku so yes there a number of seedy places nearby and guys coming up to you to see if you want to go to one of the stripper bars, but just give them a firm but polite 'NOT INTERESTED' and you'll be fine. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
