I wouldn't necessarily recommend a trip down Omotesando for shopping, really-- unless your pockets are heavy! But I'd recommend an hour or two for window-shopping, just to enjoy the displays and wares. Head on to Harajuku or further afield afterwards for a more rewarding experience.

The contrast between Harajuku and this lovely tree lined avenue filled with designer shops could not be greater and worth a visit just to stroll up or down the avenue which seems a far cry from the craziness of nearby Shibuya. Ignore the big names and the ludicrously expensive cafes and head for the store selling genuine Japanese arts and crafts - its near the Chanel store - it's good quality and worth a visit. Maybe the avenue is popular simply because it feels a bit different as well as classy. Combine it with a visit to the Meiji Shrine but avoid it on a Sunday - it's just a mass of people and busier than Shinjuku station!

There is a lot of malls and it's really overwhelming. I didn't find it too enjoying because I m from NYC and don't enjoy shopping with too much people around!

We were exhausted by the time we finished walking through the area, but happily so. A great place to wander if you're not really sure what you're looking for. Plenty of food and shopping choices to cater to the most diverse of tastes.

Check out Kiddyland for toys, the street is beautifully lined with trees which are turning colors for fall foliage. There is a delicious tonkatsu place called Maisen located off one of the side streets. For those who love cute themed cafes, check out the Q Pot Cafe!
