While on Google maps it looks like the Meiji shrine is in Yoyogi Park, it is actually two separate attractions, and a big fence between the two with no way of getting between.

Pros:
If you go on a Sunday, you see the more creative and rebellious side of Tokyo. Teenagers dressed up in Cosplay dancing. People practicing singing. Lots of miniature dogs and dog outfits.

Cons:
Apart from the above, it's just another park, where Japanese go to enjoy the sunshine, play sports, and let the kids have some fresh air. If you're going to the Meiji shrine, it's worth going next door to look. But don't make a special trip just to the park.

A getaway spot in the middle of the city. Beautiful and serene, quiet. Be sure to visit the shrine in the center of the park.

Loved strolling in this park in the morning. It is peaceful and beautiful. The crows are incredible. A lovely oasis in the heart of Shibuya.

This is a big park so there is a a lot of interesting things to see. I went on a Sunday to spot the harajuku kids and they didn't disappoint!
I also went to see the shrine while I was there and there was a few weddings taking place which were beautiful.
If you take a wonder around the park you'll see lots of cool things such as drummers, dance groups, people acting out scenes, acrobatics, all sorts :)
