“Excellent value for money”

Many disputed my choice of Shinjuku as a location to base myself in Tokyo, but after visiting many of the locations in and around Tokyo during my stay, I'm very satisfied with the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku. The close proximity to Rail/Subway station and suitable places to eat, I would recommend this hotel for excellent value and perfect staff.

My husband and I went to Tokyo for our honeymoon. We stayed in the Sunroute. We had been forewarned the rooms were small so it wasn't a surprise. But infact it was a fine size for the two of us and our luggage. The room and bathroom were immaculately clean. We had a flat screen tv showing cnn and japanese channels and there was the option to rent a film but we were out and about most of the time in the fabulous vibrant Shinjuku. The location was fantastic, just near Shinjuku station and lots of restaurants near by. Vending machines with Asahi on every floor, friendly staff, clean, massage facility, great location - what else do you need! Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights last month. It was our second visit to tokyo this year. While the location of this hotel is excellent we found it really frustrating navigating our way round the queen size room. My suitcase had to stand up in the hallway opposite the bathroom - also there was no wardrobe - rather 4 hooks on the wall to hang your clothing. The standard of cleanliness was good but the pillows were rock hard - filled with some sort of buckwheat - we both had sore necks after the first night. The buffet breakfast was less than average - mostly catered for asian cuisine with a small amount of cereal and toast for us westerners.

Stayed here based on fellow tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. As others have mentioned, the location is conveniently located near Shinjuku station and is a 1:20 ride on the Narita Express. Luckily we used the south exit but went the wrong way before finding the hotel. Would be nice if the hotel posted detailed instructions including a map on the website from the station. (If you see the Citibank sign, you're on the right block.) Check-in staff were friendly and spoke adequate English. Room was non-smoking and had a queen size bed and was bigger than expected. There was enough room to put our suitcases down and maneuver around the room. I've stayed in smaller rooms in Europe. The bathroom was an adequate size. Buffet breakfast was included in our rate and had plenty of fresh Japanese and Western options. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Tokyo. Free internet in the room but wifi is only available in the guest lounge. Bring a three-prong adaptor because if you forget yours, they charge 1000 yen.

This was the first Japanese hotel I'd ever stayed in and I was not disappointed. The room, a twin-bedded one, was fairly small, but not as small as I'd expected from reading the reviews, and there was no problem being able to move around without falling over our suitcases. I had asked for a non-smoking room and that is what we got. The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was a good size.

The free 100 Mbps internet access in the rooms was a welcome bonus (and they even provide a Cat 5e cable in case you have forgotten to bring one); British hotels of a similar standard should take note.

If you want to use the takuhaibin (luggage-forwarding) service, a Japan Post Express employee visits the hotel daily from 08.00 to 12.00 noon. Outside these times you'd need to go to the Yamato (Kuroneko) office next to the Lawson convenience store on the side street just up the road, the one with McDonald's on the corner. Yamato is open from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.

Given this hotel's value for money and convenient position for Shinjuku station, I'd stay there again and I'd recommend it to others.

The hotel is located just 5 minutes walk from one of Tokyo's busiest train station. Location is one of the best I have stayed so far after been to Tokyo 4 times. Other hotels I have stayed include Daichi Ginza, Tokyo Dome (nice view but far from most tourist spots), Villa Fonaine, Roppongi (older clean rooms but location is not great). I chose the hotel because the airport bus service (3,000 yen per person) makes a stop at the hotel. It takes around 1.5 hours to Narita anad 1 hour t Haneda. The rooms are slightly larger and room is modern and clean. Free internet connection in-room and wifi at the lounge is provided

This hotel is a great central base to sightsee around Tokyo from. It is close only a 5 minute walk to the train station, convenience store, post office and major shopping department store. The rooms are very small, which is pretty standard in Japan. My partner and I booked the economy double room and what you see in the photos is exactly the size of the room...no extra walking space or place to store your luggage. We had to keep our suitcases in front of the bathroom which made it very awkward to get around, especially in the middle of the night! Coming from Australia where there is no smoking allowed in any public building, we forgot to request a non smoking room. The room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke and we requested to change rooms after the first sleepless night. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite with tatami mat floors and japanese style bed that was very comfortable. Great customer service from all staff who went out of their way to understand our very broken Japanese. Overall, we would stay there again.
