I have stayed in this hotel in 3 of my visits to Tokyo and each time I never regret my decision. Please bear with me as I share my long over-due comments.

One of the main reasons was that the price is reasonable and embarrassingly, it is one of the hotels that Airport Limousine Bus stops at. However, in my latest stay, due to the bus timetable not favourable (landed in morning, but the earliest bus was at 1+pm), we decided to take NEX train service. I was apprehensive about lugging one huge luggage to the Hotel. Boy was I surprised realising how easy it was as the Hotel was near Shinjuku Station (from south exit).

The staff is friendly and helpful and with high initiative too. If the queue to check in or to approach the recep is long, a staff will actually walk up to you to check on what you need. They are also well-versed in English. One could say all Japanese staff are generally friendly and helpful, but the staff at Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku never stop smiling. There is sort of a sincere warmth in them.

I have also stayed in other hotels in Japan, but I wish to vouch for the service rendered by Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku as the best encountered.

The rooms are clean and well kept. Yes they are small, but where can I possibly find big rooms in Tokyo? The room is also well insulated and the air con can be switched to heater mode if needed. (Just for sharing on how important this is: I have been to another 4-star hotel in Japan where only hot air blows out from the air-con. When I requested for cold air as the room was too stuffy, the hotel told me to open my windows instead or use a fan. However, there are no such issues with Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku!)

However, I have a grip with the pillows. They seemed too flat and soft. I find it slightly uncomfortable and have to use two pillows. There is also a concern that the hotel is getting old. Stains, which cannot be removed, can be seen on the carpet and walls. Perhaps it's time for the hotel to begin upgrading of its rooms.

And yes, the most important info. All rooms are now wifi enabled! (2 yrs ago, it was not).

Overall, this hotel will always be my first choice (hopefully some upgrading can be done though)!

Room Tip: I have stayed in a variety of rooms, and all are good.... but for economy double room, the bed may b...

The hotel was perfectly located in Shinjuku. You are about .25 kilometers away from Tokyo Hands (like a stationary, travel, everything shop) across the street and up 2-3 flights of outdoor stairs. Also within a block or so from the subway/train station. There are many shops/department stores in the area as the railways own the land and the main department (depato) stores. Food is close by with a McDonald's within a half a block away as well as numerous restaurants and drug stores for those gifts to take back home.

The rooms were small as it is not North America with large rooms. There is enough room for bags and carry-on for 2 people. The bathroom was pleasant with a bidet and fantastic toiletries to take home.

Would highly recommend this place for a family of 4 if you book 2 rooms.

Rooms have connected wi-fi so bring an internet cable to plug in and the lobby has wireless internet.

Room Tip: Bring an internet cable to use in your room for better connectivity

This hotel is very close to Shinjuku JR Station. Just a few minutes walk. The double-standard room is fairly small for two people, but it's Japan... so whatever. On the other hand, the staffs are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I've stayed here twice now, and would definitely come back again. Maybe, a slightly larger room if I can afford it. And the free internet connection, both wired and wirelss worked great too.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku for 5 nights during our honeymoon to Tokyo. We were very pleased with our choice!

This was our first trip to Japan, so we weren't sure what to expect, and happily this hotel turned out to be an excellent choice.

Location: PRIME! It is directly across from Shinjuku Station, about 7 mins walk. Easy to find. If you are coming from Narita Airport (or just about anywhere else) and taking the JR Express then you will get dropped off here without having to switch lines.

You will see Lumine 1 & 2/ MyLord on one side of a major cross street, on the other side about a block down is the hotel.

Shinjuku Station is one of the busiest in Tokyo and you can easily access the major subway/bus/train lines to anywhere else in the city from here.

Plus, the Lumines and MyLord are incredible shopping experiences for fine clothes, jewelry, shoes, home goods, and food.

For easy reference to the hotel, use this map on http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3011.html

Rooms: Great! Yes, they are small compared to US sizes, but to be honest we did not find this to be a problem. Bedroom was comfortable for two people. Very clean and neatly organized so it is easy to move around. We had a complimentary shampoo/conditioner/body wash pumps in the shower. Bidet toilet and included vanity kit (plastic hairbrush/ toothbrush and toothpaste/ shaving kit/ etc.). Every you need except for body lotion.

You can ask for an iron if you need one. Had one outlet for electronics (note: bring your own converter/adapter).

Service: Excellent! No problems and everyone was very polite. Front desk spoke good English and sent out our post cards for us. They also can schedule a taxi pick-up or a bus that picks you up at the front to the airport (recommend if you are leaving via Haneda Airport). House cleaning was very good, too.

Additional Amenities: A real life saver was the laundry room. Had several washers/dryers so you can do your own laundry while staying without it costing a ton of money.

They have a fancy restaurant downstairs and a beautiful lobby. It is also a hotel chain, so you can sign-up for free for their rewards card.

Overall: Highly recommend! We explored the entire city from this hotel - great stay and loved Tokyo!

Stayed here for a week last August, the excellent is unbeatable, being a short stroll to the subway and trains.

The rooms are small while having everything you need, although there is not much space for luggage, so travel light if you can.

Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke English.
