“Great location, average hotel.”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Location: great. Really close to the Shinjuku station. Full of restaurants, convenience stores and others.
The room I stayed was really small, but ok. The bathroom was good and clean.
The carpet in the room was full of stains and have some dust in the corners. :(
The internet in the room was only available by cable, and they only have wi-fi at the reception. So everybody goes downstairs to get internet, but unssuccesfully due to the large number of people trying to get the same signal. So this was terrible. We are in Tokyo in 2013!!! Good internet, please!
But the overall experience was good.

I chose Sunroute because it's so convenient to get around in Tokyo, very closed to railway lines(JR Shinjuku) and subway station respectively.

My recent stay in March 2013. It was still cold of which I brought some thick clothings and I would like to recommend the coin operated laundry service (at Basement Floor) because I could bring less because of this service provided next time, good for travellers especially if you're having a longer stay or in Winter! And I like the vending machine on each floor so that I could get something to drink (also appreciated the free ice), so considerable!

What I love about the hotel is its central location. Just outside are a convenience store, small restaurants like a good ramen shop. It's also a 5-10 minute walk from the JR station, which is very convenient. About 15 minute walk is the Takashimaya department store.

I would recommend this hotel to those looking for value for money stay in a good location in Tokyo. I love to go there again.

I was able to book 5 rooms in hotel sunroute plaza. 3 economy double for $145 with breakfast and 2 standard twin for $180/night with breakfast. The breakfast was not bad except that they serve the same food every morning for the 8 days that we stayed there. For those who opt not to have breakfast at the hotel, there is a cafe veloce right across or a 24 hour mc donalds a few steps away.
Most people say that the hotel is near the JR shinjuku station but the JR Yoyogi north exit station is equally near, less confusing and less congested than the shinjuku station if you are just planning to use the JR Yamanote line which most tourist would use anyway.
The hotel lends out umbrellas during rainy days. They also provide 2 energy drinks in the rooms for free which I did not consume.

Seven nights at the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, my second visit there, and looking forward to a return in November. As everyone says, it has an extremely convenient location, close to Shinjuku Station (hard to find the correct exit if you're coming from the Yamanote line) and to a variety of restaurants. Shinjuku Gyoen is just a few minute's walk away, one of the loveliest gardens in Tokyo, esp during sakura season or during Leaf Season. The rooms, tho small, are comfortable and clean. Beds are hard - but so is every bed in Japan. Service is exemplary. Security is good. For the price, it's a steal!

The first thing that everyone commends is the location of this property. It is close to Shinjuku Station where I suspect, you can get a train to half of Tokyo without the need to transfer trains. It is close too, to numerous eating and shopping outlets.

While you cannot go wrong in anyway with the latter, I'm not sure if Shinjuku Staion is the best jump-off station for tourists. Navigating its many nooks and crannies is hard to master in a couple of days. And when one is jostling against locals in and around rush hour, it can sometimes be confusing, maddening even if you are trying to catch a train, and make you re-think your decision of using this as a transportation hub. Luckily for me, I stayed here for seven days and I started to get the hang of it by the 3rd day.

The hotel itself is unremarkable. It has adequate, smallish rooms.

As mentioned by other reviewers, they have a wired connection inside the room but, for wi-fi connection, one has to trudge down to the lobby where it could get quite packed (the lobby has its own rush hour). Factor the rates however (more reasonable than similarly rated properties nearby) and this shouldn't be much of a concern.

As with most japanese, the staff here were quite nice and helpful, save for the chap who checked us in the night we arrived. When I asked him one question, he answered a dismissive "yeah, yeah, yeah." Too early in the holiday to get worked up over something I thought and just let this slide.

Whether or not I take that incident into consideration, I still would rate the hotel the same.

It helps that they have coin-operated washing machines and dryers. I just wished that they had more of them as 3 pairs is not enough. No chance using them when you get back from touring late afternoon or early evening as they are always full. Best option would be to wake up early to wash and have the laundry room to yourself.

Breakfast was good but not great and can get old pretty fast so I recommend booking just the room and go sample their breakfast buffet once in a while.

The location of this hotel is good and only 5 minutes walk to the New South Exit of Shinjuku station! The breakfast is ordinary japanese breakfast. The room has free wired internet connection but no wi-fi. Only the lobby and the guest lounge has wi-fi connection.
