Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu
Ranked #6 of 30 Hotels / Ryokan in Shibuya
Certificate of Excellence

This Hotel overlooks the famous Shibuya intersection and gives a feel of being at the center of High Activity Zone (aka Time Square of Tokyo). This place is easily accessible to everything like Public Transportation, Shopping Malls, Restaurants, Theaters, Pachinko's, Super stores etc.
The rooms are small but decent enough for a business trip. They donot have complimentary breakfast but thats less of a problem as you Starbucks and Excelsior in the same building . It would be better if they provided bottled water in the rooms atleast on the first day until we figure out the vending machine.
From 26th floor, I got a fantastic view of the Shibuya Junction and you can pretty much see Shinjuku, Yoyogi park and a beautiful Sunset towards western hills.
The Coldstone creamery that is on the 4th floor of the same building is a must visit.
The Staff is not as hospitable as I have seen in other Hotels in Tokyo.
There are hundreds of eateries around this place and you can find pretty much every kind of cuisine.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the shibuya junction.

The Hotel is located right above the Shibuya station which was fantastic due to the convenience! Easy access to transportation, food, shopping, clubs, etc.

The room was a reasonable size. There was three of us in the one room and so they had put an additional rollaway double bed into the room. As a result there was not a lot of space to put luggage but we managed. The bathroom was a good size.

There are numerous entrances to the hotel (eg. through the shopping centre). At first, it can be a bit difficult to navigate, but you will get the hang of it. If you're staying out at night, be sure to know which entrances you can access the hotel through.

The hotel offers great photo opportunities of the Shibuya crossing!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the crossing.

It's all about the Location...easy to look for food and shopping near the hotel. Located connected to the subway. Personally found the rooms a bit small considering the price, but great view. Had a clear view of the Shibuya intersection...one of the busiest street in Japan. Absolutely safe and convenient location. Amazing view at the breakfast buffet...it was definitely a great experience, worth a stay!!

One of the drawbacks of being on a package tour is that they put you up either in an airport hotel, miles away from city lights, or in some hostelry meant for foreign visitors, whose guests come from all over the world, except the country where the hotel is located.

The Shibuya Excel Hote avoids both these drawbacks. It is located in downtown Tokyo. Actually Tokyo has many down towns. This one is the downtown for Tokyo's citizens. The hotel is surrounded by all things Japanese- Japanese shops, Japanese food places, including multi-cuisine restaurant choices, and Japanese people. In fact the hotel forms the top floors of the local railway station. so if you wish to travel cheap all around Tokyo, using the subway system, you cant hope to stay in a better place.

The rooms are large, all the windows have cityscape, so it doesn't matter which floor you are on. When evening falls, the city lies spread out below, twinkling like a thousand diamonds. The view justifies the location.

The beds are large. there is a flat screen TV, a mini fridge with tea & coffee service, and free wifi connection.
The toilets are high-tech, with artificial intelligence, that makes you momentarily uncomfortable, but you quickly get used to, and even enjoy the warmed seats, the bidet & water spray functions with their controlled speed and pressure. They grow on you.

The restaurant serving breakfast is on the top floor. The breakfast, included in room charges, is a buffet with separate rooms for "European" and Japanese breakfasts. Although the spread is incredibly large, and the seating adequate, I would advise that one goes early, as the waiting lines become long, if you reach late.

The coffee is excellent.

I enjoyed the hotel and the bust bustling area in which it is located.

Room Tip: The high up floors have excellent evening views of Tokyo

Great location - you can see it just outside the subway. Also few minutes walk from one of the best ramen in restaurant in Tokyo, Yichiran ramen

Awesome view - you can see floods of people crossing the streets from your room, one of the most amazing and interesting views you can get in Shibuya

Needless to say, the staff is nice and helpful, like many others in Japanese hotels.

Great location above Shibuya Station, overlooking the most famous crossing of Tokyo! Rooms are big, even for the solo traveler. I've been in this hotel four times, two of them with family, and I'll be going again next month. Highly recommended.
