The place was a bit hard to find since their sign is on Japanese, make sure you have the address in Japanese. We went there for lunch and had to wait in line for a while (15-20 min), but it was definitely worth the wait. The noodles are really tasty, cooked to perfection according to your preference. You can choose soft, medium or firm noodles. Thick or thin, spicy or not. The price I think is 780 yen (8 USD). Overall a very nice place that I would warmly recommend.

It was my first time to try Ramen at Ichiran even though it was introduced via a guide book :) Seems all the time people are waiting in line! I ordered extra Chashu and it was pretty yummy! As the restaurant is decorated like a library, it is good for the person who goes get some food alone I think. Plus, you need to order with a vending machine. Overall, easy, fast and tasty food :)

I had researched reviews on TA for good food and this place did not disappoint! When you find the sign, walk downstairs, there may be a line but it moves fast. When you walk in, there is a machine straight ahead, this is where you pay for your meal. Select how many bowls of ramen you would like (1 per person, but if you are very hungry, you can order additional noodle refills) and any other ingredients you may want and your drinks (there is a water spout at each seat if you want to drink water). Then you will wait a little longer and fill out a form for how you want your ramen made for you: how rich the broth, garlic, chili pepper, and other ingredients. While you are waiting you do not see the dining guests, they are in another room. When space opens up, we were two guests and the ensured that we could sit together, you are asked to head in and find your seats and you hand your form and tickets to the open space at the end of your table area. After a few moments, your food arrives and it's time to start slurping the delicious noodles.

I don't care how many fancy restaurants I try, my heart remains devoted to amazing soup. Ichiran has got my number -- rich (seriously rich) broth, noodles with body, tender meat, and a deep spoon. I swooned the second I tasted it.

There aren't a jillion options here, just one type of meat (pork), but you can have multiple variations on the theme. You can add an egg, mushrooms, or seaweed, select the intensity of your broth, and increase your spice level to make your ramen all you. And, one of the great novelties, you do it all at a vending machine before you sit down, paying in advance. Then, you place the tickets for your order on the edge of your counter table, and it's delivered pronto. The whole time, you're sitting in this little cubicle, where you have ultimate privacy to slurp and focus on your soup. It's genius. Genius.

For two -- with my husband getting both a beer and a noodle refill -- the total was under $30. We could never pull that off in the States! There's just no downside. Eat here.

Oh, and note that the restaurant is DOWNSTAIRS. There may be a daunting line, but don't worry, it moves quickly!

If you only try one Ramen place make this the place. There are too many so-so shops selling a poor imitations. Take the time to read the choices of how you want soup prepared. The ice cream is also fantastic.
