Amataro is very tourist-friendly, with a welcoming, friendly staff. Even though there was a constant influx of people throughout the night, we were seated fairly quickly. As soon as you walk in to the dining area, you are greeted with sounds of laughter and spirited conversation, which added to Amataro’s energetic atmosphere. Amataro caters to the younger, hip crowd with its low-priced bar food and drinks. Its menu was extensive and everything we ordered was actually very good – the menu wasn’t in English, so we just pointed to items that looked interesting. (Try the dish that resembles a mini-pizza, the appetizer that looks like uncooked spaghetti, and the foot-long pastry for dessert!) We highly recommend this Izakaya while you’re in Shibuya… Cheers!
