“Shinto Weddings Galore!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

We so loved our visit to this big park and Shinto temple. We managed to witness three weddings when we were there. A very peaceful place.
Shibuya is such a great place as well. Make sure you visit on the weekend if you can.

“Peace & Tranquility”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

A large and beautiful shrine which is conveniently located near to the Harajuku train station. It is a little different from Sensoji Temple as you experience peace and tranquility at Meiji Shrine whereas Asakusa is more touristy and hustle bustle. There is quite a distance from the main entrance to the shrine thus it is best to wear shoes that has flat soles and to avoid wearing heels because there are plenty of stones around the pavements. Point to note: for those who intend to pay 100yen and draw lots at the shrine and could not understand japanese language, you can actually request for an english version of the lots. the forecast of the lot will also be given to you in english. Hope it helps!

“Beautiful and peaceful place”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

This Shrine with surrounding parkland is a beautiful and peaceful place to wind down from the pace of Tokyo. The grounds are very beautiful and it is a lovely walk, mostly on gravel so avoid heels. A little pre reading on the shrine would be useful as there were queues of locals at various points around the shrine but it is not immediately obvious what it was about. We later found out after doing and organised walking tour in Tokyo that they were queuing to leave prayers, get their fortunes etc. Very interesting hour or so. The Shrine is a short walk from the Harajuku shopping district.

“Grand & interesting indeed!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Must-visit the Temple and its surrounding area with beautiful trees. If one has enough time to visit the quiet garden, it is worthwhile but the entrance fee must be paid for. The souvenir shop has plenty of special green & black Meiji teas, and "noren" & "kakejike" or curtains. Just great.
