“good spa in theory - but kicked me out for small tattoo , no refund”

hey,
I liked the spa, onsen , sauna , and I have been to many places in Japan like that.
actually I was never ever kicked out for my small tattoo I have on my leg.
the sign at the entrance says it clearly but hey, first of all I still think Japan is
a democracy and banning tattoos legally would allow banning handicapped ,
blonde, midgets whatever in the same logic.
and secondly I have not even thought about this rule any more since so many good
experiences in the past especially in beppu and matsuyama..

so , sorry bad spa indeed, this was not necessary. especially nobody helped me
when the guys kicked me out :(

I was a backpacker who discovered this onsen by chance and thought I'd give it a try. This was by far the best onsen I visited in Japan, it was far better than the big spa-related theme parks in Tokyo and Osaka. It has a nice variety of different spas so there's something for everyone. The massage baths, mineral springs, and herbal saunas were all very clean and well-presented with plenty of drinking water to avoid dehydration. The outdoor area, although small, was serene and had a relaxing atmosphere to it. The relaxation rooms were so comfortable, I didn't want to leave. I also got a massage there for a very reasonable price. Even their face-towels exceeded my expectations, with exfoliating grooves! When I left this onsen I felt relaxed and rejuvenated as though I was walking on air! For tourists in Tokyo looking for an authentic Japanese onsen I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Highly recommended for a day with friends either in separate men's and women's bath and sauna and steam rooms or coed walking pool (bring your own swimsuit) and outdoor jacuzzis with mineral baths and saunas. Very reasonable for full day, half price after a certain hour. Not crazy about restaurant- boring. Massages highly professional- extra fee but reasonable. Try the good Chinese restaurant or sushi bar across the street and there is also a MultiPlex movie theatre right at the Seibu Ikebukuro train station a block away. Only drawback may be lack of English speaking staff- not sure if they have them, but worth a phone call to ask.
