“Amusing and value”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Although thoroughly Japanese, this restaurant is relatively easy for foreigners to negotiate. Be prepared to treat it as a bit of a laugh and go in a group of friends (this is not date night material) Service is a bit slack and needs to be summoned - it helps if you have a Japanese speaker with you. Have lots of drinks - especially the cocktail with a preserved plum in the bottom of it - better still have some drinks before you get there and be prepared to wait. Try the cold Udon - weird but nice. This restaurant has an extensive sake list. I previously thought I hated sake, having tried it in the past, but this restaurant has several types and styles.

“Good option for foreigners”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

This restaurant is famous for having inspired Tarantino for the Japanese restaurant memorable scene of Kill Bill.
In fact it’s a trendy and busy place frequented by a lot of foreigners (tourists and expatriated) eventually with Japanese friends or relatives.
Good option to try different dishes of Japanese food, sushi, sashimi, tempura, noodles, and skewers. A lot of people, good but speed service.

“The worst meal in Tokyo”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

Every restaurant in Tokyo is amazing, you can literally go into any place and get an amazing meal. Other than here. Who cares if it's in Kill Bill, McDonald's does better food, honestly. I strongly recommend you avoid this place like the plague. The service is worse than the food but on that note, none of the chefs are Japanese and all of the clientele are American tourists (no offence to American tourists - they're just not great if you're looking for an authentic experience). Also, we had booked for 8pm but were kept waiting until 8.30pm, there were loads of free tables but all were covered in mess from the last customers. Avoid this place.

“Fancy modern-traditional restaurant”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Good for foreigners who are not yet too familiar with the Japanese cuisine. Famous among foreign tokyo visitors. Approx. 1/3 of customers are foreigners. Food quality is quite good, but not great. Just what you can expect from a rather lively touristic place. Reasonable, but not cheap. Expect a 3.000 - 5.000 yen bill per person for a dinner. Tip: try the zaru tofu, chilled soft tofu to be eaten in small bite size pices with a bit of soy sauce. Something you might not get so easily outside of Japan. Enjoy the yakitori, not the most extraordinary selection, but all good quality. Also recommendable: charcoal grilled beef.
