“Great location, nice apartement, loved the pool”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2010

Stayed in the apartement with my wife and our two daughters for two and a half weeks. Great location by the Tokyo Tower. Spacious and good apartment with all amenities; laundry machine and dish washer. We really enjoyed the basement swimming pool. My 6 years old daughter learned to swim in it! I guess that the rooftop terrace will be perfect in the summer. We will book this residence again, when in Tokyo.

We came to Japan for 8 days and decided to try both fancy hotels (Grand Prince Akasaka), Ryokans, and apartohotels. Of all the types, my family enjoyed the Somerset Azabu East the best. I think the prior reviews are accurate. The apartment is larger, more spacious--we happened to have a view of both the Tokyo Tower and a famous Tofu Restaurant with Edo style gardens below. There is laundry and excellent heating. The complimentary breakfast downstairs is pretty filling if you eat it (toast, coffee, boiled eggs, cereal). The minor disappointments was our toilet heat wasn't super technological (like the other hotels--you kind of do get used to heated seats, believe it or not). It is a bit sporadically cold and rainy during Cherry Blossom season 2010, so my one caution is the location. The nearest walkable stop is Akabanaboshi (Oedo line, 3 minute walk) --and that's neither on the JR Rail line (which we had 1 week passes for) nor the Tokyo subway. It's on a 3rd line--so we often had to pay for another ticket to connect to one of the other lines to get to more common destinations. We do love coming back to our residence here--the staff is great and facilities wonderful. For the price of 15K-16K yen/nite, this was a great value at that rate compared to the other places we tried out.

We stayed here for a two months. The staff is so warm and friendly... they even helped me with my Japanese homework! The rooms are clean and nicely appointed for long-stay guests. But, beware the rooms are small. We had a wonderful view of Tokyo tower! The only downside is the location. It's not really near any restaurants, cafes etc. There's a supermarket next door. It's one subway stop away from Roppongi and Azabu Juban but at least a 20-30 minute walk by foot.

We stayed for a week on a return visit to the city we used to live in. This is a fantastic alternative to Tokyo's pricy hotels, and a short walk to 4 subway lines. The location is right near the old gourmet district of Azabu-Juban, a short walk to the sidestreets of Mita, and close to Akasaka, Hammamatsucho and Roppongi. All the major sights of Tokyo are close by, and of course the beautiful Zojoji Temple is a 2 minute walk away and provides the views. Tokyo Tower is also a 2 minute walk away and worth a visit at night for the view. The apartment was spacious, service great and location perfect. Highly recommended.
