My associate and I visited the hotel in early May and had club floor rooms with a great view of the Tower. We were taken to the lounge for check in which was quick and easy. The room was great and the selection of English television stations was acceptable. I'm usually away from home for a month at a time and having access to English speaking television allows me to feel closer to home.

The lounge staff were very helpful and friendly. I was wanting some strawberry jam at breakfast and while not immediately available, they located enough to keep me supplied for my trip. Much appreciated.

Room was spacious, clean and quiet, just what I needed after a long flight.

Check out was easy. I plan to visit the hotel again during my next visit to Tokyo.

Great hotel, everything is of high standard. Rooms are very nice - although not as spacious as Peninsula - but definitely still larger than the norm in Tokyo. Check-In and Bell service most efficient. Staff very friendly and helpful. Located in the very chilled-out Midtown.

Rooms are spacious. Good location. Helpful staff. I would highly recommend the hotel in all respects. If you're transferring to another airport, you can have the staff send your bags ahead of time. Breakfast is wonderful; worth every penny. Gym is great as well as spacious gym.

The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo has a great view of Tokyo from all sides. Our room, tower deluxe, looked out on Tokyo Tower and the Tokyo Skytree. I don't think there is a bad view for any of the rooms in the hotel.

The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms. We had two double beds for 3 people and a feather free room.

There is a metro station below the hotel and one a few blocks away. This makes traveling around Tokyo convenient.

A few negatives this trip. Only Rose and Jake from housekeeping figured out there were three of us in the room, not two. They made up our room later in our stay. The concierge was unhelpful for most of our trip. I wrote one month in advance to get information and make plans. The requests that were made through reservations were honored but none of the concierge on duty knew about my other requests.

This is not a child-friendly hotel. The pool area is closed to children after 5pm and all of the restaurants are upscale. The mall located on the lower floors of the building has convenience stores, restaurants and a grocery store.

Just as we were leaving, Tokyo Midtown was having an art festival. We got to see a few of the works before we left. Unique and delightful opportunity.

Previous reviews have all mentioned the good points : location, views, decor etc. The. Ritz Carlton has everything you could expect from a 5 star establishment - but its the people and little things that happen that makes an experience above and beyond expectations and this is what makes the Ritz Carlton Tokyo a great epxerience.

As with all experiences involving human interactions, errors and mistakes do happen and its the revovery and "after service" that either makes it or destroys it. We had a couple of incidents at this hotel and the staff were brilliant at recognizing the errors and fixing the issue well and beyond thus turning a potentially negative situation into a positive one. Examples included a shoe polish incident (a bronze coloured shoe returned a patchy black - which was then ultimately fixed to "almost original" colour) - a gesture of apology included a complimentary send off in their Rolls Royce to the airport on our departure. A minor housekeeping error - a cleaning cloth was left behind in the bathroom - the housekeeping manager came personally with a bowl of chocolate almonds to apologise. What impressed us was the immediate follow up action and care taken - it wouldn't have been such a great experience had management ignored or not taken any action.

As we stayed 5 nights and used the Club lounge, it was refreshing to see that the club lounge staff recognized us, what we liked and our preferences. On our last day, one of the club lounge staff (a trainee intern from Singapore) was so thoughtful as she presented us with a small package which included a selection of the teas that I had been trying each day at the lounge. A small token but very thoughtful. These little experiences made a good one great! We had a great time in Tokyo, in part because of the warmth and wonderful people at the Ritz Carlton who made all the difference. This was our first stay at a Ritz Carlton and if our budget allows it - definitely will not be our last!

Room Tip: All rooms have stunning views - you cant go wrong when you're 45+ floors above street level!

We stayed for a total of seven nights breaking our visit after four nights for a side trip to Kyoto and a five night stay at the Ritz Carlton Kyoto (see separate review).

The hotel is pretty much what you would expect. Great views of Toyko, especially at night, and a good central location. The rooms are large with all of the usual 5 star amenities although the furnishings are starting to look a little dated. We opted to stay on the Club floor which on balance was worth the extra cost. Some reviewers have been a little negative but we found the breakfast and the free drinks and snacks which are provided perfectively adequate. Service is generally good and the staff are helpful.

This is a safe choice for a visit to Toyko and a hotel which we would be happy to visit again.

Room Tip: Club floor - it's definitely worth the extra cost.

Having stayed here many times on business, loved the Club Lounge atmosphere, staff, fragrance that wafts through the hotel, its "almost" perfect.

However, 2-points down due to the fact that the Club Lounge have "drastically" reduced their Evening Canapés, and to be honest, their is really nothing to nibble on unless you like lettuce or crackers. Very sad that they have cut back considerably since April 1st, plus the extra 3% tax hike, does not make this such a great deal. Same price (or thereabouts) is the Shangri-la, Tokyo, which has a great location, and a much better "Evening Canapés" - Ritz Carlton is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but if you enjoy the evening time in the Club Lounge, you may well be disappointed.

Checking-out is a nightmare when they are a wee bit busy. Took us 20 mins on Wednesday, so leave time if you're in a rush to catch a train/plane, they don't rush, despite the polite "Hai, wakarimashita" It has no meaning.

So there you go, minus one point on each count.

Room Tip: All rooms on the Executive Floor are quite and peaceful.

Dear Hotel_Critic_Mag,

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us from your recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo. We sincerely apologize that we did not meet your expectations about club lounge service and it is truly disheartening to hear that your stay was anything less than a memorable experience.

We valued your comments regarding our Club Lounge and will certainly review the offerings in our Evening Canapé menu. We are pleased to be offering a different menu each night of the week along with a large selection of Baron Philippe de Rothschild wines, Ritz-Carlton Private Cuvee Champagne, a selection of domestic and international beers and an endless selection of soft drinks.

Your feedback is much appreciated and we continue to work hard to ensure that our products and services meet the high standards expected of our brand. I hope that you will grant us another opportunity in the future to extend a better stay experience to you.
