“Pretty perfect”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

Location was great. Short walk to Metro. The area itself has many cool little restaurant options. Western and Japanese.

English speaking, European staff member!

Breakfast was a very minimal, vegetarian styled buffet. Coffee, vegetables and cereal. Would have enjoyed a little variety. If they want to be minimal, it's fine.... but maybe an egg / toast?

As a restaurant later in the day, it was full-on gourmet, amazing.

Rooms were recently renovated. I stayed in a "supreme" room which although it was still rather small (average size by Japanese standards), the way it was designed and the layout of the room optimized the use of space. Stylish and modern. Extremely comfortable, super-soft beds. Great place for travellers in their 20's / 30's. Very cool "meeting room" imacs and touch screen and projectors for a creative team pow-wow.

I was concerned about a package I had forwarded to our hotel from another. Staff member Yuri took it upon herself to call our previous hotel to inquire and made it her personal mission for the day to get it delivered safely, which it did. It was a "above and beyond" moment in customer service that makes me want to return one day.

My only qualm was the wifi. For some reason was spotty.

Outside of any negatives. Can't ask for much better in the heart of Tokyo.

Stayed at Roppongi Hotel S for 2 nights late October 2013. The standard room (lowest price) is only 17m2 in area. It is extremely functional and more than enough space for one person. However for 2 people, I recommend upgrading to a larger room. They have various room size choices.... of course rate goes up too.

To my surprise, in my standard room, there is a washing machine!, microwave, frig, and a counter sink. They also provide hair dryer, the usual bath amenities, and a safe.

The breakfast vegetable buffet was unique. Nice to start the day healthy. I didn't interact with the staff besides checkin/out, service average overall.

This is a non-smoking hotel, they provide smoking area in the parking lot (I think). The hotel gave us a useful note at check-in regarding rules/schedule of the place. The last line states "Smoking is prohibited in the hotel". So of course my next door neighbor smoked the 2nd night of my stay, and of course the smoke smell crept inside my room. It was quite heavy....ie chain smoking? Unfortunately this is common in Tokyo hotels. :(

Like others have mentioned, location is great. Family Mart 2-3 stores up the street, subway 7-8 min walk, and Roppongi Hills next to subway entrance. And like other hotels in Tokyo, this place is clean.

The functional design of this hotel is worth a stay. Check it out.

Thank you so much for your comments and I hope that as long as we improve the handling of the smokers breaking hotel rules, you would have given a higher rating? Until now, it was difficult for our staff to be strict about certain rules, but we understand well how valuable a fully no-smoking environment is for everyone and how this should be fully enforced as it is of utmost importance if the policy is clearly stated. We will do our absolute best to keep the no smoking building, truly no smoking. We hope you will try us again.

Pleasantly surprised about this hotel, rooms are "big" for Tokyo standards, brand new hotel, all the amenities. The space is well used, theres a refrigerator and kind of a mini kitchen and dining area in the room. Huge bathtub with TV.

Walking distance from metro station Midtown and Roppongi Hills.
The restaurant downstairs is also very good. Theres a convenience store next block so you can buy food and stuff.

Really bang for the buck will return and recommend.

First, the good points:
- Excellent location; 5 minutes walk to the heart of Roppongi; 10 minutes walk to the Roppongi train station. Being located outside the heart of Roppongi means no noise from the street at night
- Plenty of restaurants, cafes, and all night convenience stores on the hotel's doorstep
- Friendly and helpful staff, who mostly speak reasonable English
- Hotel is very new (and clean)
- Very comfortable bed
- Free wifi in the rooms

Now for the not so good points:
- Rooms are small, although no doubt typical of hotel rooms of this price in Tokyo. I stayed in the Special Deluxe, which is two sizes up from the smallest room, and this was still quite small
- Unable to make outside calls from the phone in the room (not even to landlines in Tokyo); this is a ridiculous hotel policy which must be changed
- Breakfast is very disappointing; mostly comprises vegetarian dishes that seem more designed to serve as decoration than to be eaten
- Hotel rooms don't include instant coffee, sugar, or cups with handles; instead, Japanese tea, with handle-less bowl type cups are included (no doubt with Japanese guests in mind)
- Furniture in rooms is a little on the cheap side (although as above the bed is very comfortable)

All in all, the hotel represents fair value for money, bearing in mind that hotels in Tokyo are expensive, and unless you pay big money, room sizes are very small. Due to the small room sizes, I recommend you go for at least the Special Deluxe.

Location: is 5 min walf to Roppongi hills and 10 min walk to MidTown.
Staff: friendly, communicaiton in English is ok.
Wifi: working fine both in room and lobby.
Nice lobby area for breakfast, dinner or for a drink. There a room with nice design furniture, low tables and sofas, sort of Japanese style, jazz music.

The hotel is on Roppongi street, which means below the elevated highway. Noise was not a problem in my room but I could not open the window. So you have to stay with AC all the time. Which can be a noisy. I slept with earplugs.

The room was well designed and functional. Space is scarce in Japanese hotels and so it is here, but at least they made good use of it.

This Hotel is relatively new and opened last year. I have visited this area many times and if 5 star budget is out of your means for a long stay, then here is a gem of a place. A clean tidy reasonably good sized rooms particularly for Japan. Very modern with great access to the local famed nightlife district area of Roppongi.

The staff here are superb, efficient and extremely friendly. More so than many of the larger hotels that I have stayed in within this area. If you have little or no Japanese language skills, no problem as many of the the staff here speak good to excellent English. A particular thank you to them, Meg, Ai, Yuka and all there work colleagues who's exemplary service will ensure I stay here again.

The restaurant downstairs was very good with many outside paying patrons visiting thsi quite popular eatery. The breakfast was basic but good. There was a Virgin coffee shop next door and a decent sized comfortable business centre next to the hotel entrance. The ambience of the hotel entrance and restaurant area was very good and Western looking, comfortable and warm.

Near by: You have the Roppongi Hills modern shopping district that is not much further than 5 minutes walk, with associated Metro station etc. 10 minutes walk and you are in the centre hub of Roppongi Crossing district with superb bars and nightlife. 10 mins in a taxi or not much more if you walk to and use the Metro is the Shibuya district with its great shopping, restaurant, bars, and cafes etc. However, the hotel is suitably and strategically located within a quieter part of this area. I had no problem sleeping here within the large double bed. I cant say the same for many other places that I have stayed.

This hotel was a superb find for me as a frequent visitor to Japan. No Gym or pool but at the sacrifice of that this is in a Great location and access to fantastic local amenities. Great young friendly supportive staff. There is cheaper but this is Reasonably priced for Japan and standards above hotels of similar price in the area.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper then a rear room may be quieter. I had no problem here sleeping. The stan...

It is 10-15 minutes walking to the Roppongi Hill Metro Station and has to walk up a hill.
So it is quite difficult of senior guests.

The rooms has very small windows,
and a Highway Flyover is just outside the hotel window.
The traffic noise is terrible.

Room Tip: The morning all Vegetable and Fruit breakfast was Good.

Hello Hong Kong 1234, we are very sorry you were not able to sleep well. We take your point quite seriously and are trying our best to vet how deeply people sleep before we place them in the rooms nearer to the highway. Your comment was very helpful and we hope you might come to our restaurant or cafe on your next stay in Tokyo.
