We had a great time at TEPIA. It's super easy to get to - next door to Jingu Stadium, short walk from Gaien-Mae station - and friendly faces meet you as soon as you walk in the door. It was quiet when we arrived, so we had some personal attention from one of the assistants (Rieko, whose English is very good). Even without that, they provide English leaflets explaining the exhibits.
My boys (10 and 11) and I loved the speech simulator, smile estimator, smart glasses (think Google glasses by Brother), air-powered glove (for people whose hand mobility is restricted by brain injury), driving simulator and mowing robot.
It's a smallish exhibition (by museum standards), but you'll see some amazing inventions, and others you've already become familiar with.
Enjoy!

I don't know why no one has reviewed this - I went there and it was great! And it's free!
There are assistants there and they are all really nice and friendly.

The building is called TEPIA, and there's an exhibit there which is about 3 large halls full of the latest technology from Japan!

Most of the info is in Japanese - however if you stop at the information desk they give you an English pamphlet which has English descriptions of each of the exhibits.

The exhibit is split into sections - Introduction (robots / thin speaker / cool telly )
Main exhibit hall:
Communications
Health & Medical care (you can try on a glove that helps you move your hand!)
Cities and mobility
Environment and Energy/Resources
Future city exhibit - there's a really cool car engine and other bits

Also there was stuff that babies / little kids were playing with, that looked like interactive soft animal robots - but the baby bit was busy and we didn't feel that we could rob them of their toys!

If you like technology, robots, science, or just like seeing / playing with cool stuff you'll enjoy it.
We spent about an hour there on a Saturday morning and it was very enjoyable. Not that busy either. Good for kids and adults.

To get there :
If you're JR-passing it - you can get to it by taking the Chuo line (the yellow one) to the Shinanomachi station.
Turn left out of the station (there's a convenience shop near here) and go over the footbridge.
Go past a restaurant, then turn left and go through the park , cross the road at a kiddy playground (vending machines here for drink, and strangely, chips and hotdogs!) and go past the national baseball stadium.
turn left after the stadium and keep going straight down the road.
TEPIA is just after another baseball stadium.
It's about a 15 minute walk - but it's a nice walk through the park!
See the attached link for a map : http://www.tepia.jp/english/access/index.html

Go - you won't regret it!
