“Contemporary Mori”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

Mori is situated in the sprawling Roppongi complex, and on the 53rd floor of Mori buildings, 1 of the many buildings in the complex

Currently they have a show about children so there's photography, paintings and installation art from global artists. It was ok. Maybe it's because of the specific show, there are museums in other cities (London, NewYork, Singapore etc.) that are probably consistently better

There is also a sky deck and observation area where you can view tokyo from 50 floors up at the museum

There is a triangle of museums in the area - National Art Museum and Suntory Museum, but i didn't visit those 2. You can get discounts if you visit all 3

Before or after the museum, you may have 100+ dining options at the Roppongi complex

“Hasn't disappointed yet!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

We saw a Warhol retrospective in April, and previously I saw a very good Art of the Islamic World exhibition at the Mori. The space is great, and the exhibitions well laid out. As with any gallery, it depends so much on the exhibition whether it's worth visiting! The website is easy to use for research.

“All you could ask for in a contemporary art space”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

This is a museum with no permanent collection, but an incredible turnover of curated world-class exhibitions. Every show is thoroughly and beautifully presented. I've been there a few times over the years since it's opened just over a decade ago, and it gets better every time. The Roppongi Hills Complex is spectacular and you can very easily spend a whole day there. In fact, you should plan to spend a whole day there (in the area). Lots of shops, restaurants, city views, and the museum sits right on top of it all...

“check to see if it is open”

they have some good exhibits but the museum closes when they are removing or putting in exhibits. Otherwise you go for the city views; you can get those in many hotels and not have to pay for them.
