We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, absolutely loved the location, the rooms were impeccable and spacious, service was great. we stayed in a standard room, but enjoyed the layout and arrangement. the hotel is also connected to the shopping mall and access to high end boutiques if you walk around to explore. i will definately be back to this hotel next time i am in town. the hotel also looks rather new and feels like a 5 star quality. did not eat in the hotel restaurants but they look very good and elegant.

Just spent four nights there for a break. The hotel is right on Roppongi Hills. It is close to shopping downstairs, subway stations, and many restaurants in the Roppongi area. My room was spacious by Tokyo standard. It was on a lower floor without much view. Everything in the room was thoughtfully arranged with great attention to detail. An additional plus is the free Internet connection in the hotel and the rooms. Since I don't speak Japanese, the concierge was helpful on booking restaurants.

The setting: This Grand Hyatt is in Roppongi, situated in the Roppongi Hills complex/tower. Roppongi is a higher end neighborhood a few stops away from virtually anywhere you want to go in Tokyo. The Hibiya metro line is a five minute walk through the hotel and the Roppongi Hills complex, at exit 1C. The Oedo metro line is about a ten minute walk around the hotel, off the street, at exit 3. The hotel is modern and elegant; the lobby is spacious and attractive. There is a myriad of restaurants on site, with a wide range of cuisines. As far as public spaces go, the gym here is well stocked; the lap pool is decent and the hot tub is a nice touch, although both are in a cavernous space that’s windowless. There is a well stocked locker room, complete with a sauna and hot/cold plunge pools. The club lounge is airy and spacious with a nice breakfast spread.

The rooms: Mine was a suite on a high floor. The three banks of windows overlooking the skyline were amazing. The living space was huge and well stocked with snacks and beverages/tea/coffee. There was a flat screen TV in both the living room and bedroom. The bedroom was large with plenty of closet space. The bed was comfortable but could have been plusher. The bathroom was huge, with nice stone and wood finishes. There was a spacious bathtub and shower with a wand and rain showerhead; the water pressure was excellent. There is a Toto washlet equipped toilet, separated from the bathroom space, by a door. Internet was blazing fast in the room, the club lounge and the lobby. Join Hyatt’s frequent stay program to avoid internet charges. In the lobby ask for a password to use complimentary internet.

All in all: This hotel is a good choice for Tokyo but be prepared for taxi/metro commutes as there is not much to do in Rippongi other than shop and eat. If you can grab a discount rate, like I did during a flash sale, then pull the trigger, you won’t be disappointed. Use your Hyatt upgrade certificates for a nice boost to the suites at rock bottom prices!

Expensive to stay and eat inside the hotel - by US standard. But, the hotel is located in very convenient location. It is located in the Mall with tons of restaurants, galleries and art museum. Food in hotel was excellent. Although the mall and surrounding the mall have high-end stores and restaurants, if you walk about 10 minutes towards Azabu-Jyuban, it is residential lively old town with lots of local restaurants and stores.

Visited in Dec 2006.

Service was good with the choice of different kinds of pillows (sobagara). Stayed for more than 4 nights in the high season but was very good experience. Never felt like it was over crowded. The room was a relatively small but was modern and comfortable enough for two of us. Especially nice in the bathroom areas where toilette/shower/bathtub are all separated.

The restaurants are mostly all over priced - oak door is just a normal steakhouse, french kitchen has a super expensive brunch for its value, shunbou is again super expensive japanese, fiorentina is pretty bad italian while there are so many good italians around this area. Maduro is a nice comfy bar but the music could get a bit loud.

Overall, normal nice city hotel with respective service.

A very nice and modern property with first class Japanese service in almost every way possible. The staff doesn't bow for you all the time (like @ the Imperial), which that is just fine with me being a Gaijin. The "Club-lounge" breakfast and evening service were also outstanding and absolutely worth the cost. Location can not be beet for proximity to Azabu and Roppongi Hills. I particulary liked the smallness of this property vs. other First Class Japanese Hotels I have stayed in. I would not call it a boutique, but it is not the typical mega room property like many in Tokyo. The only negative we experienced was the Italian restaurant on the lobby floor. As expected in a First Class Japanese Hotel, it was very pricy, unfortunately the food was no where close.

Room Tip: like most hotels, the higher up the better view one has.
