“Great value and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Stayed here in October 2012 and we found the place to be well located for Daimon station (Asakusa and Oedo lines) and Hamamatsucho station ( Yamanote line). The hotel was quiet, the staff were helpful and the room was large by Tokyo standards. There were lots of restaurants nearby on the way to the station. The only downside was that the decor was somewhat tired, but this didn't really concern us. We found the hotel shuttle from Narita airport wouldn't leave the airport till 6.15, when we'd arrived at 5.00. So instead we caught the airport limousine bus to Tokyo Prince Hotel which is nearby. As with most Japanese hotels they have no WiFi, but you can access the internet via LAN.

I just stayed for four nights at the Shiba Park during a business trip to Tokyo. I have stayed there a number of times in past years, but the last few trips to Tokyo my hosts had lodged me in larger, newer, and more expensive places. I was reminded on this trip that the Shiba Park is a good bargain. Rooms are spacious, though austere in decor. Good internet access, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water in the shower, all at about 40% of the cost, or less, of the newer business hotels like the ANA Intercontinental. What else is really needed? Location is a bit away from the Imperial Palace/Maranouchi/Ginza district, but only a quick subway or taxi ride to reach them. Neighborhood is a diverse mix of office buildings, residences, small restaurants (even Starbucks and La Pain Quotidien), shrines, and a large temple. Tokyo Tower is nearby, as are several subway stop. Only weak spot is the food: an expensive 2-star French restaurants, standard Japanese and Chinese places, and an overpriced breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: Business rooms on the 7th floor of the annex have access to a lounge with computer, printer, and rat...

The hotel is located in a business area of Tokyo, quite close to Daimon metro station. It's easy to find and the front office staff all speak good English.

My single annexe room was small-ish, but as I came to Tokyo to see the sights the room was not really important. The bathroom was adequate, there were tea and coffee-making facilities, the TV got the BBC World News, so nothing was lacking. There is a Family Mart store very close by which sells snacks (both hot and cold, but I'm not too keen on Unidentified Floating Objects and stuck to recognisable sandwiches) and there is a Starbucks, McDonalds and Mo's Burger if you don't want to eat Japanese food. Restaurants are everywhere; set lunches go from about 800 yen to 2000 yen, and the bento boxes looked so appetising I coulnd't see how McDonalds and their ilk got any business.

It is a short walk from the Tokyo Tower (not a pretty sight) and within easy reach of most of the must-see areas.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this hotel again - it offered a comfortable bed, good facilities, and was in a good spot. What more do you need ?

Room Tip: I'm told annexe rooms are 'better' but can't comment because I didn't see the al...

This hotel has the Tokyo tower just behind it, and the Zozojin temple close too. Staff are great with English, very helpful and the rooms are good. Breakfast was western or Japanese style and fine.
We spent three nights here before moving out of Tokyo, and it was a good area to explore. Well linked to both Subway and JR Yamanoto lines. Pain Quotidian restaurant if you want something more familiar just by the temple.

Room Tip: We were in the annex. The hotel supplies umbrellas for crossing to the main building on rainy days.

Stayed there for two weeks on business, rooms are "ok" but back rooms are very dark with no view so would ask to see the room first if thats going to be a problem. The Hotel is situated in a business area and has very little though the subway is only a short walk. Cannot comment on hotel food as very expensive. Hotel laundry was excellent though!

We recently spent 5 nights here and the service was awesome. Staff were very helpful often writing messages for us in Japanese to pass on to others, eg to book tickets on the bullet train to Kyoto. We have 3 girls who all enjoyed practicing their Japanese greetings each time we passed by reception to drop in the keys or ask for the keys. A small walk to the JR line, under 10 minutes. Lots of restaurants and small grocery shops nearby also. Would stay at Shiba Park hotel again, had a great stay. Also great laundry facilities which the other hotels we stayed in Japan lacked. Safe area always lots of people walking about all hours.

easy to reach, the most important thing this hotel can offer is: position. Placed close to Tokyo Tower (that's why is easy to reach) and next to Shiba Park / Zojo-ji Temple, at evening you can walk in the streets around the hotel relaxing in the park looking from time to time at the Tower with all of its lights. 2 Metro Stations are near:
- JR / Hamamatsucho in 15 walk mins (for JR Pass travellers), brings you in all the interesting parts of the city (Ueno, Akihabara, Shibuya, Shinjuku ...)
- Daimon in 10 mins walk (3 stops from Roppongi Hills)
Hinode Pier is also 30 mins walking, where you can take boats on Sumida River bringing you up to Asakusa or Tokyo Bay.
We booked a triple room from 17th to 21st august, price was good: room was big enough for three persons (not huge, but ok), offering LAN connection (bring your pc from home), TV, air conditioner and a functional bathroom. Unfortunately we didn't have a window.
Staff was very friendly and gentle (as probably everywhere in Japan), kind in helping us when we had a problem; ensligh was ok.
Tips for low cost travellers: there is a Family Mart just around the corner, 1 min walk from the hotel.
