My favourite good value hotel when visiting Tokyo over two decades. Western travellers need to be open minded in Japan, for rewarding experiences. Airport Limosine bus goes directly to hotel, I use the faster Narita Express, with prepaid Suica card ( like London Oyster prepayment card ) for journeys; including subway and some local trains. Haneda airport has a monorail link to neaby taxi or 15 minute walk with wheeled luggage. Hotel has a great array of quality eating places. Nearby Irish pub, western fast food and 7-11 store, plus normal Japanese bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: Premium rooms, on reserved floors are obviously better.

We stayed at the Shiba Park Hotel for 5days,4nights. The hotel is small and a bit old but there were no odd smells and the staff were all very nice. We booked a triple room which was 2 rather big single beds plus a couch which transforms into a sofa. The beds (including the couch-bed) were all fairly comfortable. The room was also kept clean everyday and did not smell. There was a water heater, safe, bathtub, hair dryer and television all the basic stuff you need. The room was also bigger than what I expected. We could walk about freely even with our baggages and stuff on the floor. The television only had 2 english channels (BBC and CNN) but that was okay since we did not go to tokyo to watch TV. There was also free wifi in the room.

Everything was clean in our room, the sheets and towels smelled fresh. There were just a few stains in the carpet but that is a given since the hotel is not very new. I love their shower because its so easy to get the right temperature of water. The water pressure is also just right. Sometimes I didn't want to leave the shower.

Location of the hotel is also quite good. The JR line and 2 subway stations are within walking distance. There are also a lot of hotels in the area and convenience stores.

The only negative thing I have to say regarding the hotel was that the pillows were a bit weird. They are stiff but when you lay your head down, it gets flat pretty quickly. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. Anyway, we still had a good night's sleep. There is also no free breakfast for their rates, but thats still ok because there are a lot of places to get breakfast. Another negative thing was that I don't think they cleaned the bathtub daily. There were a lot of grime from the shampoo or soap that spilled and those were not removed until we left.

Anyway, I think the good outweighs the negatives so if given a good price I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

We stayed at the Shiba Park Hotel in Minato-Ku area in Tokyo in October last year for 3 nights. Good size modern clean room with a nice view of Tokyo. Good value for money considering Tokyo is a pricey city. Service from the staff was excellent and we had a real Japanese experience dining in the hotel restaurant; needless to say that the food was superb! The hotel is located in a nice spot walking distance to Zojoji Temple and Tokyo Tower and about 10 minutes walk to the JR train station. Lots of 24/7 convenient stores and restaurants nearby as well. We enjoyed the whole Japanese experience!

We listened to the previous reviews and got room in annex on the one floor (6) with built in wifi (everywhere else has wired Internet). There is also free wifi in the annex lobby. Room had view of a wall and air conditioner was loud but otherwise was very positive experience for the extremely reasonable $150 peak season price. Room was clearly of older style but renovated. It was clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was included in our rate, which is a huge plus in Tokyo.

Staff was helpful but not quite as well trained as in higher level hotels. When asked explicitly and in culturally appropriate way, they responded well. However, better trained staff work harder to anticipate your needs and offer their assistance generously without having to be asked.

Loved the location near Shiba Park and Tokyo tower. Nice to be able to walk to several attractions in the area.

Very good location just south of the state tower, railway and metro. Staff happy to help and very good english. No breakfast included in deal but free computer access and tea and coffee all day makes up for it. rooms are good size and clean.

From airport take the jr to Tokyo central station and catch a taxi. worth the $25 cause it is not easy to find from the staion and not everything is in english.

We were on a school tour. This hotel is close to transport JR trains & Subway, Zojoji Temple, Tokyo Tower, close to a street full of places to eat - some with English menu, Family Marts and 711 Supermarkets both of which you will visit for supplies including food. Hotel Staff were friendly and helpful. Western Breakfast Buffet area was a great place to fill up before a long day of exploring. Japanese Breakfast also available. There were only two washing machine dryers on the fourth floor which was busy, had to set my alarm early to nab them. Then the dryer didnt work well so had to hang around the room which took awhile to find places to hand and to dry.

Room Tip: Rooms all clean and tidy, we were all in the second tower, different floors. Views were limited as...

We spent 4 nights at the hotel upon arriving in Japan and returned for a final night before departing. We used the airport bus limo to get there, a wise move, and were able to check in immediately despite the fact that it was only 9:00 am. The rooms were clean and spacious and there was a good selection at the buffet breakfast. The location was great with the JR and subway lines only a short walk away, and there was no shortage of restaurants nearby. We found the staff very helpful and there was always an English speaking person on duty. We were also able to organise a late checkout on our final day for a very reasonable price. This meant we were able to enjoy another morning exploring Tokyo before packing a heading for home.
