I recently stayed 3 nights at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel. Overall, I had a great stay. I was on an SPG floor, and my room was completely renovated and very nice. I loved the free internet! The concierge desk spoke English perfectly and was very helpful in giving directions and advice for tourist ventures. The location was very convenient, with a subway system within 5 minutes walking distance and free shuttle buses to Meguro and Shinagawa Station. The airport limosuine bus was very convenient (about 1.5 hours with direct service to the hotel). The only downsides were an older bathtub/shower and expensive hotel restaurants. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the Miyako Sheraton back in March and the price was worrying. The experience turned out to be a very nice one. The only thing to complain about is the fact that we had to pay entrance for the live music bar downstairs even if we were staying at the hotel.

We stayed at the Sheraton Miyako due to its affilaition with teh Starwood program. Some of the reviews I read made me a little apprehesivce thinking it was too far out of the way. Not true, While the hotel is not steps away from the action it is very centrally located in the city. The hotel offers very prompt shuttle service to tow of the major rail / subway stations (Shinigawa & Meguro). The hotel itself has been around for sometime though has been recently remodeled. Overall it was a great place to stay in Tokyo...I would stay here again.

Back for the Second Time......The first time was Years ago and they have remolded since then. I thought that it was what you would expect from s Sheraton, comparable to the Chicago Downtown Sheraton (Lobby a bit Nicer). Paid about $150 American Dollars on Hotels.com, But we booked they day before when we were staying at the Holiday inn at the airport.

LOCATION:
Busy Residential area, there are not many sights to see around there. Had problem finding train from there and ended up taking a cab (which are over priced compared with Chicago Taxis). They do have a free shuttle That runs from the Hotel to a nice & really Busy shopping / Dinning area, takes about 5mins. Found out days later that we could have taken the Tokyo Metro from this area.

ROOMS:
Really Nice. Above Sheraton Standards. View from rooms just ok. Quite. Free American News paper every day.

SERVICE:
The service is really good and you can book tours from the front desk, they are a bit over priced compared to booking them online or though a travel agent.

FOOD:
The Food was really good, our Breakfast was included in the room price. They have a mixture of Traditional American and Japanese Food. Compared to the other two hotels that we stayed in during our time in TOKYO this was by Far the Best Food.
Side Note about eggs.....
It is funny because they offer White and Brown Eggs just for Americans, white eggs are very expensive there along with the fruit imported from Chile. Asked them about the Two Different eggs, Their response was AMERICANS DO NOT EAT BROWN EGGS. But if you do order eggs to be cooked your way make sure you tell them to over cook them, they tend to under cook eggs.

We were planning on doing a bunch of walking tours on our own.....Get the INSITE GUIDE TO TOKYO (at Boarders about $9.95), Great guide with map and a bunch of different day walking tours. The Map also has the streets in Japanese, VERY HELPFUL....all the street signs are in Japanese and few people on the street can read English. So English map of Tokyo is really not help full. The Hotel was not in the best location for this.....if you want to be near all the sites for the same standers, STAY AT THE AKASAKA HOTEL MONTEREY (really nice Business hotel, wrote a review on it).

Enjoy Tokyo...go to Oriental bazaar, tel 3400-3933 #9-13, jingumae 5-chome, shibuya-ku, tokyo. Great place to get all your gifts to take home to friends, they have the best prices. Right need Hello Kiddy Land and THe Famous TODS Glass building.

Spent a couple nights at the Sheraton Miyako Tokyo back in the spring. Comments from other reviewers apply -- it's in a primarily dense residential area, so one will have to travel for nightlife or even a 24-hour convenience store. So, one should treat this as a place to sleep, as opposed to a hub for activities.

That said, the hotel does a reasonable job linking up with public transit. If you are arriving from Narita, the most straightforward option is an airport limo bus from the terminal. (As Narita is 40 miles away from Tokyo, private taxis are not recommended from the airport.) If you're taking commercial trains, the Narita Express goes straight to Shinagawa station, where you can take a taxi (around 1,000 yen) to the hotel (make sure you print out the Japanese map and address from the webpage). The cheapest option is to transfer to the JR Yamanote line at Shinagawa, and get off at Meguro. The free Sheraton shuttle bus (10 am - 10 pm) appears at the East side station sidewalk, near the taxi parking lot, and arrives every 20 minutes.

Rooms are standard, and with the exception of the Japanese toilet, nothing fancy. The in-hotel restaurants are standard, though I would recommend that you explore other dining locations. For those who critique the incremental costs -- that is the norm for a Tokyo business class hotel, and the Sheraton is no more expensive than other hotels in Tokyo. (In fact, for a business class hotel, it is *relatively* good value, though still more expensive than most North American properties).

Note that the main foyer includes a lounge area, and thus has open cigarette smoke. Japan has a higher smoking participation rate than North America or even Europe, so this is to be expected at any hotel property. Still, it takes some getting used to.

I enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton Miyako, and if the room rates retain their good value, I'd stop by here again.
