This was my second stay at this hotel. We tend to stay at W and westin more within the Starwood brand. Decided to stay here after disliking Westin Tokyo. The Miyako is conveniently located about a 4 min shuttle bus ride to two different subways. The shuttle bus provided by the hotel is complimentary. The rooms vary. I got a traditional style junior suite the first time there, and my second time a more modern room. The rooms are standard, free Internet however. We prefer a quiet area over noisy locales like shibuya. Hotel staff better than any other Sheraton hotel staff at any other places.

Room: After my first stay I asked for a renovated room and to my surprise, I was already staying in such a room! In fact, the room itself was fine (not looking brand new though but not worn out either), the bed very comfortable, but the bathroom shows lots of wear-out signs. Not many English TV stations are available, no other languages like German or French. The rooms are also a little bit noisy (especially the ones facing the street) and your sleep depends on your neighbors...

Additional charges: The breakfast is ok unless you would like to order something in addition in their Café California which will then cost a fortune (I have had the most expensive small fresh fruits plate in my entire life!). The quality of the food is good and as some already mentioned, the prices in the restaurants are way too expensive. The gym is kind of small and outdated too and is not included in the room charge which I find somewhat strange, especially as the charge for the gym is also quiet expensive for what you get. They also wanted to charge 900 yen music charge for a band playing in the lobby bar – considering the already high price level in the bar this is unreasonable.

Staff: The staff is very nice and friendly.

Internet: Internet access in my room did not work all the time. The wireless connection in the lobby was working most of the time. If you have to work from your hotel room, this may be a problem.

Overall, I stay there because it is the most convenient location to go to visit our business partner. However you will probably find better value for money in other hotels.

I am currently staying at the Sheraton Miyako Tokio for a few days. Although the rooms are OK and reasonable value for money (for Tokio standards), there is one thing which really disappoints me: The hotel seems to keep the room charges at a decent level, but charges guests for a lot of services on top, which should normally be included in a hotel of the Sheraton category in Asia. One example is the usage of the swimming pool (you get a voucher for one-time use for free, but have to pay if you want to go swimming again - I have never seen this during all my business and leisure travel experience, among them quite a number of Sheratons). For having a coffee or beer at the lobby bar (!) they charge you 900 Yen "Music Charge", simply because of the usual piano player performing in a corner of the lobby (in other places even discos or nightclubs are for free for guests, if they belong to the hotel). The list could be continued... I don't recommend the hotel for anyone who expects a bit more than just a clean bed and breakfast of a hotel in this category.

Rooms are nice and I enjoy using jacuzzi at fitness room every time I stay. Only location is the disadvantage but they do have shuttle bus to nearest rail stations every 15 minutes. Both Meguro station and Shinagawa Station have variety of restaurants, fast foods or take out foods inside station building if you want to be cheap. I also found that they have "BOOKOFF store" which is used book/magazines store 5 minutes by walk from hotel and they have a lot of books in English. I didn't check the price but I'm sure it's cheaper than buying import books.
You may be able to get better rate (Non-Refundable, I think) at Ikyu or Rakuten Travel website in English.

I've stayed here over Golden Week, one of the main deciding factors for this hotel were the competitive room rates compared to other chain hotels.

The hotel is in a very nice area, Shirokanedai, which has a more residential feel to it, but there are some very good restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance. The hotel has a very useful map of the restaurants, including which ones have English or picture menus. This is something you might need if you don't speak Japanese.

The room we had was good size, and very clean, however it looked old, it has not seen a renovation in a long time. I did read that there are renovated rooms, but we had not booked one of those.

I'm planning a trip later this year to Tokyo and I will be staying here again, because it is a nice quiet area with a good connection to both Meguro station for getting anywhere in Tokyo and to Shinagawa station for the taking the train out of the city or for Narita Express.

We stayed here 2 nights with 3 young children and managed to get two adjoining rooms, which were a delight after 3 weeks Papua New Guinea ! The staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. Especially at the "travel desk" they gave us very practical information about the subway and so on. The Airport Limousine Bus is also an advantage and a comfortable way to get to/from the airport.
The main disadvantage are the extremely high prices of the meals. Breakfast for 5 persons costs over 13.000 YEN and consists of a menu instead of a buffet.
Our experience in the Japanese restaurant wasn't what we expected of it. The 10.000 YEN menu per person was well below what you would expected for that price. The entree tasted like a jelly fish ; the raw fish didn't look fresh and the tempura dish was quite tasteless. The desert was a joke: one scoop of icecream and that's all.
The Japanese restaurant named Tokyo in Hilversum - the Netherlands, is twice as good and is half the price....

I stayed here for 6 nights in May and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The hotel may be a little old but the lobby area is spectacular and the Tour Desk phenomenally experienced and helpful. The restaurants were great as well with good food and reasonable prices.

All in all the stay was great, the only drawbacks (both of which I found minor) were the plumbing noises from the rooms next door, not all that surprisingly given the amazing toilets they have in Japan with a variety of built in features which woke me a couple of times and the location which necessitated a taxi ride to the nearest Metro station (only a couple of pounds) so that you could get out into the city proper.

Definitely recommended for the first time visitor to Tokyo though. One thing though - you can't use the pool if you have visible tattoos (unless you cover them up) it's a cultural thing but that applies to all hotels
