“Expensive but clean and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

We were staying with a group and didnt have to pay for our rooms, so I'm unaware of what that cost is. But the food in the hotel is all extremely expensive, which is inconvenient if you want to stay in. They also don't allow food to be delivered to the hotel. They DO offer 24 hour room service if the price doesn't bother you, and a breakfast buffet with lots of great options.

We stayed in the South Wing, which was nice and quiet. The a/c in the rooms doesn't get cold enough to offset the extreme heat of Tokyo in the summer but the beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious.

I have stayed at the Okura a number of times on business trips and always look forward to returning there. An old school Japanese charm, warm wooden feel in the lobby, very helpful staff, well furnished rooms and great big beds.
Located in a very peaceful area of the middle of the city and so close to Roppongi for the nightlife.
The bus to either airport leaves from the hotel so it is always an effortless stay at the Okura.
Highly recommended.

I had a pleasure organizing a series of international high-level events there and then extending my stay a little longer to relax and enjoy Tokyo after a hectic meeting week. It was simply the BEST in everything either for the meeting side or for my short tourist experience afterwards. The staff was going over the board to accommodate the meetings and all participants, it all was superbly organized and went very smooth. I could only dream of such a service! Overall, it is a charming hotel with historic and traditional touch, excellent location, spacious rooms with harmonious and traditional Japanese classical interior, superb room service and excellent restaurants (sushi one was simply heavenly outstanding - i am now having serious trouble eating any other sushi after this perfect place :) HIGHLY recommended!

Excellent stay in a business class hotel. Service was far above average, among the best I've experienced.

Room was very large (western size), clean, and confortable. Kimono robes and origami on the bed was a nice touch.

Traditional style Japanese decor, very minimalist, but functional and confortable.

DIdn't use any restaurants, but there were many to choose from, and a large shopping area.

Great bell service, and very easy to catch cabs or the airport limousine bus (which drops off directly at the hotel).

Location is great, walkable to Roppongi, the Tokyo Tower, 2 metro stops, and the Akasaka business area.

The hotel is huge and the lobby gives a grand welcome. The friendly staff is more than keen to guide you.
I was surprised to see the large sized rooms in today's times where MATCHBOX is the standard room size in most hotels.
The restaurants and bar are more than welcoming.
Rooms have been redecorated, refurbished to suit the modern day requirements.
Being a vegetarian from India, I had taken a lot of frozen/ready to eat stuff with me and the Room Service Staff were more than willing to reheat the same and present it on nicely laid Room Service Trolleys.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the New Wing.

Stayed here on a recommendation from a friend and thoroughly enjoyed it! Well situated in Tokyo and EXCELLENT service! We were able to reach the subway quickly and there were some great restaurants and shops close by. Be sure to visit JAPAN SWORD and take a tour upstairs! WOW!

The Okura Tokyo it really a one-of-a-kind hotel. It's the perfect 60's style. It seems that nothing had changed over the past 40 years. When you are entering the astonishing hotel lobby of the main building it feels like walking into a James Bond movie. The decoration itself is worth to stay here. As the Okura is being considered one of Japan's top hotels it's surely not cheap. However, they are offering promotions and early booking tariffs. A MUST-GO is the Orchid Bar - the perfect surrounding for having a Martini - shaken, not stirred. (BTW - the rooms have been of course redecorated over the past 40 years and are nice and clean as you would expect it from a 5star hotel).

Room Tip: Make sure you are in the main building, not the south wing.
