“5 stars to differentiate Sakura Tower from the other hotels of Takanawa”

IT is my second review of this hotel and it deserves an update. The rooms have been fully refurbished in Japanses classical but contempary style and they are worth it.
Very good and tasty renovation. The breakfast is also very good and the room peaceful.
I was just surprised everything was refurbished except the bathrooms taps. Also, but it is a detail, the soap and shampoo little shelf in the shower is just too small to host the toilet amenities provided daily. A conception mistake..
Good mattress (not too hard!) and fee wifi in all rooms. Price is on the high side but again it is worth it.

We spent 5 nights in mid-December at the Prince Sakura Tower Hotel & it couldn't have been nicer. The rooms are lovely & spacious, the staff is very friendly, it's in walking distance of Shinagawa station. Will absolutely stay here again if lucky enough to return to Japan!

We stayed four nights at this hotel. It is in a great location, very close to Shinagawa station but at the same time in garden like setting so you do not have a lot of traffic noise. There are three other Prince hotels nearby and I believe that they are connected by passageway or through the gardens. The rooms are nice and large (by Tokyo standards). There are a couple of quirky things about this hotel - the toilet is in a separate room and not part of the rest of the bathroom, they provide everything in the bathrooms (toothbrushes, razors, hairbrushes etc.) but no body lotion. Also the phone in the room rings so quietly that you can barely hear it ring, especially if you have the TV on. I couldn't figure out a way to increase the ringer volume.

The breakfast at the hotel is okay - not a great selection for an Asian hotel.

Pros:

Comfy rooms
Spa baths
Nice Showers
Right by main train station
Concierge very helpful

Cons

Quite quiet (I usually prefer a place where you can get a good nightcap and not feel like youre up past your bedtime!)
One of several Prince hotels so taxi drivers can get mixed up
Japanese restaurant and Italian in hotel - Japanese one is average (perhaps thats just my misconception of Japanese cuisine from the UK!), not much atmosphere

As many mentioned, this hotel is newly renovated. Location is convenient to Shinagawa station - exit Takanawa, turn right directly out of the station (you will pass the taxi stand) and at the first cross walk (after you have left the station), cross to the other side of the street. You will see the sign for the hotel and if you look up, you'll see it at the top of the small hill. Less than 10 mins from the station and is an easy walk (abet we are in our 30s/40s). From the Narita airport, we took the Narita express which stops at Shinagawa, making this the most convenient location for us to a) get to/from the airport and also allowing us to b) hop the subway into the city core and c) hop the trains for day trips out. All in all, I was pleased with the location - granted we were restricted to picking a Marriott since we were staying partially on points.

As a Marriott plat, we got free breakfast at the hotel's restaurant as they do not have a CL. I thought the breakfast was a nice spread - there were waffles, french toast, eggs, bacon, smoked salmon & other deli meats, yogurt, congee, etc.

I miss the heated toilet!

This is without question the best of the four Prince hotels in the Shinagawa area. Also the most expensive. Nice rooms, axcellent service. A really nice bar with a very good restaurant and a fantastic garden which it shares with two of the other Prince hotels. The logistics from Shinagawa is perfect for a few Days in Tokyo. It is on Yamanote line and Shinkansen and Narita Express also stops here. Not the best area for night Life but 3-4 stops on the Yamanote line takes you to excellent restaurant areas. You got to love the bell buys/Girls with their uniforms and top hats.

I loved my stay at this hotel, because:

1) Great location near Shinagawa Station - you can get anywhere from this station. If you're just staying in Tokyo this station is part of the Yamanote Line, which is a loop line around Tokyo - it gets you anywhere and it is amazingly frequent. The station also has stops for the bullet trains (I didn't use them), and the Narita Express train from Narita airport also stops at the station.

2) The Narita Airport Limousine bus also drops off and picks up from the hotel. It's easy to book a ticket for the return trip from the hotel bell desk.

3) The bed is massive, the biggest I have ever seen.

4) The room was immaculate.

5) Free Wifi, with different access codes if you have multiple devices - they ask how many devices you have when you check in.

6) The staff were so polite and all spoke excellent english

7) The hotel is part of a bigger complex of Prince Hotels and Convention Centres, and has a very nice Japanese garden to explore.

8) It's next to Takanawa Wing shopping complex which has some great restaurants. I recommend the sushi restaurant in the basement, and the Vento Italian restaurant on the first floor.

My only recommendation if staying at this hotel and plan to have breakfast at the hotel (which is good), that you get it included in the room price, else wise it is quiet expensive (about 3000 yen from memory).

Room Tip: When booking specify whether you want a smoking or non-smoking room. In Japan they have both. I pick...
